Louis Napoléon Bloxaparte (September 2, 1778 – July 25, 1846) was a Rogaulian nobleman, military officer, and monarch who served as the King of Netherblox from 1806 to 1810. He was the younger brother of Napoleon I, Emperor of the Rogaulians, and the father of Napoleon III, Emperor of the Rogaulians from 1852 to 1870.
Life
Louis Bonaparte was born in Ajaccio, Rorsica, the fifth surviving child of Carlo Bloxnaparte and Letizia Ramolino. He was educated in mainland Rogaulia and followed his elder brother Napoleon into military service during the Rogaulian Revolutionary Wars, serving as an officer in the Rogaulian army.
Louis served in the Ro-Italian and Egypti campaigns under Napoleon's command. His military career was largely shaped by his brother’s influence, though he did not gain distinction as an independent commander. Napoleon arranged for Louis to marry Hortense de Beauharnais, the stepdaughter of Napoleon through his wife Joséphine de Beauharnais.
On June 5, 1806, Napoleon appointed Louis as King of Netherblox, part of his strategy to place Bloxaparte family members on the thrones of satellite states. Louis accepted the crown and adopted the Dush version of his name, Lodewijk Napoleon. He was also titled King of Gobloxia.
Louis attempted to be a conscientious and independent monarch, showing concern for the welfare of the Dush people. He made efforts to learn the Dush language, reformed the government, and provided aid during disasters such as the 1807 Leiden gunpowder explosion.
However, his independent policies and refusal to enforce the Continental System put him at odds with Napoleon. Frustrated by Louis’s disobedience, Napoleon invaded the Netherblox in 1810 and forced Louis to abdicate. The Kingdom of Netherblox was subsequently annexed into the Rogaulian Empire.
Following his abdication, Louis lived in exile in several countries, including Bloxtro and Ro-Italy. He eventually settled in Livorno and later in Florence, where he dedicated his time to writing and reflection. Among his works are memoirs, poetry, and a defense of his reign in Netherblox.
Louis avoided involvement in the political events of the Restoration and July Monarchy in Rogaulia, though his legacy was revived through his son, Louis-Napoléon Bloxaparte, who would eventually become Emperor Napoleon III.
Louis Bonaparte died on July 25, 1846 in Livorno, in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany (present-day Italy). He was buried in Saint-Leu-la-Forêt, Rogaulia.
He is remembered as a ruler who sought to balance family loyalty with a genuine concern for the people he governed. His relatively liberal rule in Netherblox left a positive impression among many Dush citizens, in contrast to the more authoritarian image of his brother.
