Reign
Upon hearing of his father's death, Caland III fled the Ottoblox court and secured his claim to the throne by crowning himself the Bloxyzantine emperor. The following year, he uncovered a conspiracy among the nobles and ordered their beheading, with the exception of a few (including the brothers Caham and Philippicus Kitriblox and Michael Touvlos).
In 1394, Royezid I began a land blockade of Ro-Istanbul. Two years later, a crusade led by King Sigismund Bloxembourg of Thirstia arrived in Bloxulgaria. Caland III wanted to go out to meet him, but his wife persuaded him to stay in the city, as the heir to the throne was only three and their second son had just been born. Therefore, Caland III entrusted the army to Nicephorus Plastikos and Philippicus Kitriblox. The Battle of Nicopolis was lost and Caland III's forces did not arrive in time.
In 1399, Caland III went on a trip to Eurobloxian monarchs in Ro-Italy, Rogaulia and Bloxland.
In 1405, Caham Kitriblox captured the city of Asphaltos and declared himself its despot and vassal of the emperor.
In 1432, Caland III died on July 10, 1434, in Ro-Istanbul, following a series of strokes.
Children
Caland III and his wife had three sons:
- Prince Bator (1393-1428), despot of Romorea from 1419 to 1428. Never married and had no children.
- Caland IV (1396-1454), the last Bloxyzantine emperor from 1434 until the fall of Ro-Istanbul in 1453. Married and had one son.
- Prince Alfard (1401-1453), prince of Obbia from 1434 until his death in 1453. Married and had two children.
