In mythology and folklore, the Banlands are a distinct realm and, alongside Roblox, The Heights, the Elysian Desert and Oscuro Mundo, are one of the five realms which make up the Robloxian cosmos. Traditionally, the Banlands are ruled by the ancient God clockwork, and the Banlands act as a place where evil souls are banished to suffer.

Origin and Purpose

According to myth, demons and evil spirits all originate from the Banlands and are the guards and servants of clockwork, the god of the Banlands. The purpose of the Banlands was stated to be a punishment realm for Robloxians who disobeyed the gods or lived their lives improperly or in an evil manner. In myth, the original king of the Banlands was Hades. However, after the Old Gods vs New Gods war, Hades was overthrown by Clockwork and has been in rule ever since. It houses countless hackers, monsters, and all sorts of evil figures, including innocent figures who were taken over by hackers, including Yorick Polarity.

General Description

While different areas of the Banlands vary in appearance, folklore characterises the realm as consistently cloudy, with thick air that makes it hard to breath. The realm is said to smell of constant burning, and every area is constantly scalding hot at all times. No matter where the soul is in the Banlands, they will always see large chains coming down from the sky, hooked into the scorched earth.

The first ring of the Banlands is called the Scald. It takes the form of a massive red desert. The desert often suffers from harsh storms which may rage for hundreds of years. It is also dotted with lakes boiling lava, although these are far and few. The thick atmosphere makes it highly difficult to breathe- modern archeologists believe this aspect was inspired by post-volcanic trauma in ancient Roblox, where the thick clouds of ash and hellfire, as well as the far-flung spread of sulfur brought fear and terror of supernatural forces to the hearts of ancient Robloxians.

The Eye of Clockwork constantly keeps surveillance on prisoners here, appearing as a second sun high up in the sky..

The corpses of Giants can be found here, with their bodies towering thousands of miles across the terrain, allowing entire settlements to be built on top of them until a storm comes and destroys it. The terrain is often compared to the Sonora Desert in Brickland, prior to the 2019 Meme War.

This ring is the largest of the rings, and is said to punish souls who have done the least amount of evil compared to everyone else. The ring is surrounded by unfathomably huge walls, made of Black Iron so to make them indestructible.

According to the High Tier of Sadamanculus, the walls are hundreds of thousands of miles tall and a thousand miles thick. The walls are guarded by heavily armed Archdemons known as Hellrats. These demons, commanded directly by clockwork, are said to keep anything inside the walls and stop people from trying to enter the walls from the outside.

River Dusekk

The River Dusekk is the border river which must be crossed in order to arrive at the gates into the Scald. The ferryman is datachip, a hunter from the 11th century who dedicated his life to Clockwork and his demonic order. Souls must gift one golden shell in order to be allowed onto the boat to be ferried across.

The second ring is called the Shadows. It is surrounded by an enormous circular canyon which leads into Tartarus at the bottom and stops normal souls from escaping.

This area is much darker than the Scald. Daylight is scarce, and when night falls, the zone becomes pitch black. This area is relatively flat, but lava lakes are far more common here. Additionally, running rivers of fast flowing eviscerating lava can be found everywhere.

This zone is kept for people who have sinned more heavily than the Scalders, mostly including people who have unjustly murdered many innocent beings. This zone is smaller than the Scald, and the ground is blackened with a harsh red mist constantly looming in the distance.

This zone lacks strong weather and so there are many fortifications built by demons using enslaved souls. Omaronis, demon of providence and foresight, is the ruler of Omegaronis Castle, located near the Great Lava Falls.

The Third Ring: Hinjāku

Hinjāku is the center of the Banlands. It is the smallest zone by far, but it is also the most densely packed, with enough space to hold a single massive city, aptly named Hinjāku.

This zone is home to higher ranking demons, and the souls of Robloxians who committed grave sins, including mass murder and terrorism, as well as massively scaled forms of normal crimes, such as fraud on a nationwide level. Demons spend their free time happily here torturing souls for eternity.

However, here is also where Rhadamanthus, Minos, and Den_S reside in the Chamber of Judgement. Souls who have served a sentence of torture long enough or who have behaved well are given an opportunity to weigh their sins against their good deeds. If their good deeds weigh more, the three Judges will allow the soul to leave the Banlands and either be given a second form of life as a reincarnation in Roblox, basically for them to redo the test of life, or they may pass on directly into the Heights if their true soul is pure enough.

Clockwork's Fortress is built at the highest point in the Banlands; the peak of Mount Chronovisiomon, right in the centre of Hinjāku and the centre of the Banlands as a whole. Here he resides with his demon wife. Clockwork has full control over his domain, and overlooks the entirety of the Banlands. Under his rule, the Banlands is a thriving place for demons but a hellhole for punished souls, something which was vice-versa back when Hades was still in charge.

Hinjāku is where most higher ranking demons reside. In Hinjāku, demonic legislation is made and demons train under harsh generals in the Demonic Army. Higher tier demonic criminals are imprisoned in prisons on the outskirts of the city.

Tartarus

The harsh conditions cause massive tears in reality and large slashes often fly across the cave, cutting souls and demons clean in half.

Below Hinjāku is the cave of Tartarus. Tartarus is designated specifically for souls and demons who have been directly condemned by the Gods. The worst of the worst are left to brutally tortured by 800 miles per hour winds, temperatures comparable to that of the Roblox Sun, deafening noises, constant earthquakes, downpours of lava, large chains that fall from the sky, brutal violence, and e251atirokihc constantly reviving them in this location so that the worst Robloxians can enjoy dying over and over. When one is convicted into Tartarus, they never leave.

Tartarus is where the Old Gods, the Titans, the Primordial beings, Cursed Demons and Punished Souls are held for eternal torture.

The torture here is directly under the control of Clockwork himself. The only Robloxian ever believed to escape the Banlands is the Lord of the Void, Noli.
