Arbington is a port town in Bloxland with a population of 23,893 as of 2025. It is one of the smallest, yet richest towns in the Bloxia Kingdom especially due to it being a major importing station on the English Channel near Ro-London and its benefit from importing taxes through nearby smaller villages. It is located in Westland County. The town has also gained prominence in the western region of Bloxland for its historic ports and old docks which’s constructions date back to the 10th century. Due to the city being one of the richest, its housing prices has grown considerably higher in the recent decades, which prompted several working-class residents to move out to nearby villages. Despite this, tourism remains quite popular in the region.
Arbington is often talked about by the public of its visible contrast between the town’s small size and the high economic influence, which is considered unique for the town’s identity. The town is also known to have a small but connected community. During the late 20th century, the town’s mayor hosted a project converting numerous former warehouses into offices, apartments and gardens, although some are still kept unused as of 2025. The town is generally considered “quiet and peaceful”, with most activity revolving around the harbour, which is located in the Green District of western Arbington. The northwestern part of Arbington is also home to the Great Arbington Mansion which was constructed in 1839, and has been a subject to public speculation, rumours, history and tourism since several years after its construction.
History
The area which is now known as “Arbington” was discovered by a group of explorers around the late 9th century based according historical documents. However, settlements, such as the construction of houses, did not begin until the early 10th century. The exact date when the settlement was officially established is not verified. Around this century, many fishing and trading ports began to develop, and during the subsequent centuries, the town experienced slow population growth, although it was quick financially. In 1342, Great Arbington Port was formally established despite many port structures in the location being built a few centuries previously.
In 1903, Ronald Beck became the town’s mayor after gaining 74% of the votes and gained recognition for being the longest serving mayor of the city as his term ended in 1920, lasting 17 years. Three years later, a statue was built of him. During the mid-20th century, a nation-wide folklore emerged named the “Arbington Railway Station”. In the 1980s and 1990s, the town’s mayor, Walter Grey, hosted a project converting many former warehouses into offices, gardens and cultural spaces. By the 21st century, the town was known to be “luxurious”, with tourism becoming highly prominent by 2005 with the establishment of Arbington Tourists. Between 2011 and 2012, there were efforts done by the government in preserving historic sites in order to support tourism and keep its historical background.
Government
Arbington is governed by a local town council operating under the administration of Bloxia Kingdom. The head of the town government is the mayor and as of 2025, the mayor of Arbington is Charles Bloxen-Bourres, and elections occur once in every five years. Due to Arbington’s economic significance importing a variety of goods using its port, the local authorities of Arbington often contribute with regional and national trade agencies to regulate port activity and customs operations.
