On January 19, 2012, a mass shooting took place that occurred at Club Topia in Livetopia. At around 12:58 a.m., the suspect entered inside Club Topia, roughly unspotted, and began opening fire at Robloxians, primary those from the LGBTQ+ community. 101 people were shot and killed, with 36 severely injured. It remains one of the deadliest shootings in Robloxian history. In the end, the shooter took his own life. He became infamous as a figure for hate. It was the deadliest shooting by one perpertrator until the 2025 Robloxians Against Furry Targeted Violence Protest Shooting.
Background
Club Topia is a club located in Livetopia. The club usually got overcrowded, however, the Club did nothing about this issue, because it gave them more money. This is why so many people died during the shooting.
The Shooting
Before the shooting

On January 15, 2012, 26-year-old Jarone Oni got fired from Club Brooks. It was his only source of income. The reason for him getting fired was for saying a lot of hate speech toward the LGBTQ+ community. He lived with his mother, who was getting chemotherapy. Because the job was his only source of income, he could not pay for his mother's chemotherapy. He wanted to get revenge for what happened. He thought the LGBTQ+ community was causing his suffering. He thought the only way to get revenge was to kill as many LGBTQ+ members as possible. He knew that he could not buy a gun legally (he had no driver's license), so he went on the dark web to get guns. He bought an AR-15, a hunting rifle, and a glock-17. He also bought some chains so that he would block the doors to Club Topia so that no one could get outside once he started the shooting. He also planned to record the entire thing and post it online. Even though he lived in Brookhaven, and the obvious choice for the shooting would've been Club Brooks, Jarone picked Club Topia in Livetopia due to the fact it has more LGBTQ+ community members than Club Brooks, and it would've been much more devastating for the LGBTQ+ community as they would receive the most casualties.
Jarone went through the extra effort of not being caught. He chose his NFL backpack due to one reason, there was a chemical in the backpack than makes metal transparent, so he used it so that the metal detectors wouldn't pick up the weapons. However, Jarone didn't realize how that chemical was long gone, so that wouldn't work. He went on the dark web to buy an AR-15 with an acsesory that made the weapon fully automatic. He then payed his friend to buy bullets for him, specifically he payed him to give him bullets for his hunting rifle and glock-17. He used the dark web to get bullets for the AR-15. When he was ready, he began planning on how to do the shooting. The planning took a long time, and he didn't stop planning until he knew that the plan was ready.
He would film himself saying several anti-lgbtq+ slurs and threats, as well as saying that the LGBTQ+ people were responsible for the deaths of several people, and were trying to create a new government where they are in charge, and kill anyone who isn't lgbtq+. He would also say that he was going to commit a shooting at the club way before the shooting, however everyone he said it to thought he was joking and as such they beleived he wouldn't do anything, and as such they never reported him to the police, and never reported what he said to the police. This would allow him to continue his planning of the attack, and would end up to him thanking them during his court case for them letting him commit the shooting.
The beginning the shooting
Jarone Oni, before the shoot by a camera at the Topia Mall
On January 19th, after four days of planning, he got his weapons and bullets, he used his mother's car to get to Brookhaven Airport, he went on Robloxia Airlines flight 98272-B, which took him from Brookahven to Livetopia. Due to the airport having no stringent security at that time, he was able to get past security screening wearing an NFL backpack (which contained his weapons and the chains). It was conspired that the ticket he used was faked, and that turned out to be true. The reason he was able to fix it was because his father used to work at Robloxia Airlines, so he saw the tickets a lor of times. As soon he went to Livetopia, he went to Club Topia. Once here, he used his chains to block both of the doors, preventing any Robloxians from exiting or entering Club Topia. He then texted his mother the following:
I am very sorry what I am going to do, but it is the only way for me to get revenge. I wish this wasn't how I did it, but now I can't afford you're medicine, and I'm about to get revenge on the people that made me loose my job. I used to think everything could be resolved peacefully. I have realized I was wrong. In the next couple of hours, I am going to do some very bad stuff. But it is for the best of me. I know you're going to be mad at me, but the thing is, you have no time to be mad. You're going to die because of cancer soon, so don't waist it on being angry. Spend you're final moments enjoying yourself, goodbye forever mom. I will miss you, and I know you will miss me.
He also posted the following on social media:
I will save freedom of speech. I hope all LGBTQ+ all die.
He then broke a window to make an entrance for himself, but the loud music prevented anyone from hearing that he broke the window. He then yelled "WATCH OUT SINNERS, HERE COMES THE DEVIL!". He began firing at any person he could see. The first victim was 21-year-old Faiza Black, who shouted "HOLY CRAP HE HAS A GUN!" before he got shot in the head. His boyfriend, 22-year-old Finnley Middleton tried running, before he got shot in the head. He used the hunting rifle for both incidents.
Around this time, the police were notified, and four police officers were sent. However, Jaronne Oni had planted C-4 plastic explosives all over the club, that when exploded would kill everyone there. The police were unable to get in via the traditional entrance. Jarone began shooting again and killed 23 more Robloxians with the AR-15. He then began firing with the Glock-17, wounding 12 Robloxians. Around this time, people began making their way to the back room and the stage.
During the start of the shooting, a 911 call would be made by Isha Kennedy, who was one of the people who died during the shooting:
911 operator: 911 what's your emergancy?
- Gun shots can be heard in the backround, making the callers voice unaudible*
911 operator: What's your emergancy?
Caller: HELP!
911 operator: What is your emergency?
Caller: SOMEONE IS SHOOTING AT US, COME OVER, COME OVER HERE?
911 operator: Where are you at?
Caller: PLEASE N-
- a gun shot can be heard*
Jarone Oni: THESE SINNERS WILL DIE IMMEDIANTLY!
- The call is dropped*
The Back Room and Stage massacre
Jarone Oni took note on how a bunch of people began going into the stage and back room, and after he finished with everyone on the dance floor, he made his way to the back room. Around 52 Robloxians were in the backroom. Jarone went in there, and instead of killing them immediately, he took them hostage. He told the police,
If you guys try to rescue these sinners, I will kill them all. I am not joking. I will kill these sinners. I have enough bullets to kill these people. Any attempt will lead to the demise of everyone here, people will die even if you shoot and kill me. If you guys arived earlier this wouldn't have been so bad, but now I have one of the highest body counts in Robloxian history, and nothing will erase that.

The police, ignoring Jarone's statement, began to rescue the people in the back room. Jarone, seeing that the police are rescuing them, broke another piece of glass near the back room, and began shooting at the cops. All four of them died before they could call for back-up. He begun to shoot at every person in the back room, until all 52 died. The process lasted 6 minutes, and approximately 298 bullets were used. Then he went to the stage and killed even more people and injured around 26. One of the victims asked, "Why are you doing this?" Jarone responded, "You ruined my life, now I'm ruining you 'res." before he shot and killed him. Jarone Oni then proceeded to stop shooting.
End of Shooting
Around this time, a SWAT team arrived and cut the chains on the traditional entrance. They split in two, one would check on the people on the dance floor, and the other would check the back room The second group immediately rushed to the back room. Once they were there, they knew that Jarone was on the stage. Once they got on the stage, they found Jarone, and then they proceeded to arrest him, next to him was his phone. Jarone's phone was then confiscated and taken to the police office and is still being used, however now it is to learn more about the mind of a shooter.
Around 2 hours later. They were able to find out that Jarone had left behind a phone recording:
Hello. I am Jarone Oni. I hate Club Brooks, they won't let me express my public views. They think that since I believe what they don't believe, I should be fired. But today they learned that opinions should be respected, or else. None of this would have happened if they just followed my basic Human rights. But no, and now I killed, I feel satisfied with what I did. And now, I can finally rest with my mother. I did this so that free speech would be known. Why do people hate free speech? I should be able to say what I want to say, but now you guys know what happens when a basic human right is ignored.
This became a crucial part of the investigation. The police concluded that Jarone was planning to kill himself to avoid going to jail, hoiwever he got arrested before he could do it. The phone reccording, how he was reacting, and how he was holding his weapons, is what made them get this desision.
Immediate Aftermath
The people who survived the shooting received immediate medical help. Police officers immediately closed the club, and closed the road the club was on. News crew arrived on the scene immediately. One of them interviewed a survivor, who detailed the event. He described it as "Modern Hell in the span of 3 hours" the bodies were all over the place, and one of the police officers stated "there were some many bodies, we had to drag the injured to the front because the stretchers wouldn't be able to work, and we didn't want to risk the people getting injured more." One of the officers even resorted to saying "if you are alive, raise your hand."

Changes in Safety
Club Topia implemented safety features for the first time after the shooting, such as hiring bodyguards to guard the front door of the nightclub and removing the windows on the back in favor of sealing them up with a wall.
Club Topia Reopens
After two months of implementing the safety features, as well as clearing the crime scene of bodies, blood, and bullets, Club Topia reopened. It is nowere near were it used to be, but it still pulls in visitors to this day.
Memorials
A lot of memorials have been made. One of them is located outside of Club Topia. It is a bunch of LGBTQ+ flags, with "STOP THE HATE" written on top of it.
Club Topia Protests
The shooting caused protests to happen. These are known as the Club Topia protests. These protests were to raise awareness on how LGBTQ+ hate still exists, better safety for all people, and better laws to prevent violence from occurring. These lasted for two weeks. The protests ended once a law was passed that made it harder to get weapons.
Documentary Film
Main article: January 19th (2024 Movie)
On October 15, 2024, the 2012 Club Topia Shooting was made into a documentary. The documentary was very controversial, due to how the film was made in bias towards the shooter, and in multiple times in the film, they praise the shooter, and make him look like a nice person. The film also used real photos of the tragedy during the shooting during the end credits of the film.
Conspiracy Theories
The police officers could barely walk on the dance floor, they had to crawl unless they were getting a victim out (according to one of the reports on block news). One of the victims was so injured, that they were missing a hand (according to the Robloxian Times). When the shooting occurred, since the police station was very close to the club, the police did not want to respond until a call was made (according to Blox-Twitter user IAMSMART).
One of the most popular conspiracy theories on the shooting is that Jarone Oni shot Club Topia because he was suffering from mental issues. On July 17, 2014, Jarone Oni's friends and family found out that Jarone Oni had no diagnosis of any mental issues, therefore proving the conspiracy theory false. Another conspiracy theory said that Jarone Oni used a fake plane ticket to take him to Livetopia. This was true, as his airplane boarding pass had Robloxian Airlines 98272 as the airline and flight number and a trivial search revealed that Robloxian Airlines had never used that flight number. The most well known conspiracy theory that still remains unresolved is that Jarone Oni hired an accomplice to tell him when to start shooting the club.
The Rox News Interview
Two days after the shooting, Rox News interviewed survivors of the shooting. One of the interviews went like this:
INTERVIEWER: Hello, thank you for letting us interview you. Please, tell me you're name.
SURVIVOR: My name is Sarah White.
INTERVIEWER: Can you tell me on what the situation was like?
SURVIVOR: Yes, I was just trying to have a fun time with my friend. I thought it was just going be Music and Dancing. Why did he have to shoot the club?
INTERVIEWER: We don't know yet, but the authorities are trying to find a reason.
SURVIVOR: How did he get the weapons in here? I thought there was a guy gaurding the spot.
INTERVIEWER: The gaurd was on a bathroom break, so Jarone was able to lock you guys in, and get in relatively easily. Now, can you tell me you survived?
SURVIVOR: I pretented to get shot, I got cover in some of the blood of the other victims, I had to prevent myself from breathing until he went to the back room, then I went out the window.
INTERVIEWER:Ok, now can you tell me any closing thoughts before I interview the other victims?
SURVIVOR: That guy made me go through hell, I'm never going back.
2015 Rockfort County Shooting
Jarone Oni was sent to Death, however, before he died, he was transferred to Rockfort County Prison because it would it would better fit his sentence, however instead, he would be broken out by Glowgames225 and Jackiesocool during the 2015 Rockfort County Shooting, and he would be escorted out of the County. His whereabouts are unknown.
