The Brookhaven High School shooting, also known as Brookhaven School massacre or the Brookhaven shooting was a mass shooting that occurred at Brookhaven Senior High School (rebuilt as the modern-day Brookhaven High School in Brookhaven, Kionne Republic, Robloxia on Monday, April 22, 2013. 18-year-old student, Ethan Bradley, shot and killed thirty-five individuals, including students, teachers, and school security personnel. He also injured 59 individuals, 50 of whom received gunshots outside the building, including multiple police officers who all survived, and 9 more who suffered injuries caused by additional injuries caused by debris, smoke, and smashed glass. Following the shooting, he fled the school, but just a minute later, a local police officer who had been on the scene of the shooting slashed him with a knife before sending him to jail. The gunfire caused damage to a number of places, including residences, restaurants, stores, and markets.
The shooting was the deadliest school shooting in Robloxia, before being overtaken by the 2024 Sacramento school shooting, the deadliest at a conventional K-12 school, and the 3rd deadliest shooting in Brookhaven history being surpassed by the 1995 High School Shooting and the 1997 Brookhaven Motel Shooting, surpassing the 1973 mass shooting that left 21 people dead. It also ranks nineteenth on the list of the deadliest school massacres in the world. At the time of the incident, gun violence in the USR was on the increase, mostly as a result of another school shooting that happened in December 2012. In the end, the shooting at Greenville High School in 2023—nearly 10 years later—rivaled the Brookhaven High School tragedy with approximately thirty-five fatalities. Days after the massacre, the Brookhaven government implemented additional gun laws in an effort to prevent kids from bringing weapons into the community, particularly to middle and high schools.
After launching an investigation, the police found that he had been plotting a school mass shooting for at least five years, mostly targeting his middle and high schools. Statistics demonstrated that he had only been in possession of an .223 caliber Colt AR-15 rifle for three months and had been planning the crime since middle school. He wanted to commit the largest mass murder in American history because he was inspired by some of the worst mass shootings in the nation's history. It was once anticipated that Ethan Bradley would be freed from jail in 2063. He was charged with 35 murders and 56 attempted murders. On August 5th, 2015, Ethan was murdered by prison guard Tyson Hammer after being told to walk to the lunchroom. This was the second time a guard killed a serial killer notorious for mass shootings. Hammer was sentenced to 45 years in jail with no possibility of release.
Following the incident, gun control activists, notable people, and the victims' parents condemned the Brookhaven police. Police were chastised for "lacking actions and reasoning" as well as their sluggish, unprepared response, which accounted for the majority of the criticism. Following the shooting, which became one of the most discussed incidents of 2013, many groups (focused on gun violence) were formed. Students from Brookhaven High School were among those participating. A number of protests were held in support of gun control laws and safety procedures. A law prohibiting minors under the age of eighteen from purchasing firearms from local gun dealers was signed into law by the mayor on May 12, 2013. Subsequently, a few of the injured assault victims rose to the position of "mayor" inside the Brookhaven administration. One of them even held the position of chief police officer for the Brookhaven police department for at least a year. Several mass shootings in the modern age have made reference to the Brookhaven High School massacre, which has come to represent calls for comprehensive gun regulation.

Brookhaven is a high school that serves grades ten through twelve and is located in Brookhaven, the largest settlement on its eponymous island. founded in the 1960s with parental and government backing, opened in 1964. Despite early plans to build a larger school than usual, the team and employees rejected the concept due to production challenges that prohibited them from constructing the planned high school. Instead, they proposed their own individual concepts for the school. The high school was close to numerous notable landmarks, including a cemetery, a huge park with a playground in the middle that served as the city's focal point, and a few residences where some of the students resided.
In general, the high school was located in "some of the city's busiest areas." Prior to the April 2013 occurrence, the school employed many staff members and instructors and housed around 1,411 students (although some students also went to Lakefront Academy Of The Arts on Lake Madison Road) , students at the school were from the age of around 15 to 18. The building consisted of a main building and two other buildings holding classes and an auditorium, stadium and baseball/softball fields adjacent to the campus.
Complains against school
Brookhaven High School has faced significant criticism prior to the massacre, extending back to the early 1990s. In 1996, following a fatal stabbing of a classmate, parents campaigned for security checks and the installation of metal detectors; the school would only utilize the metal detector once every school year, which would be unplugged beginning with the 2010-11 school year according to an investigation. In the past, and even days before the massacre, parents complained that Brookhaven High School was too small for the majority of their children and asked for the creation of a painting studio for the region, as well as more room for a few courses. Since the painting area was constructed outside of most of the classroom, parents were concerned about the possibility of serious injuries in the absence of any signals of safety after many incidences.
The school practiced lockdown three days before to the incident in order to make sure that students were "listening Every Tuesday, since reportedly 2008, the school conducted an Active Shooter practice that closed the whole campus for a maximum of five minutes. The drill was implemented following a mass shooting in 2010, near the local school and has been ongoing ever since.
On April 19, 2013, during the usual class day in the morning, a small gunshot occurred near the school, injuring two individuals, including a student. The incident produced considerable issues for the school since many parents feared that possible "suspects" might easily access the facility and because it was not designed with the protection of the students in mind. Furthermore, gang leaders had previously been on the increase, and gunshots and stabbings became increasingly regular at the school and childcare. A day before the massacre, Brookhaven High School informed parents that they would be open and would seek to increase cops inside the school, as well as have police officers stationed around the facility to prevent gang shootings. Brookhaven High School and the government were considering plans to entirely reconstruct the school beginning in June 2014, around the time of the event. According to a statement released by the school following the incident, there were substantial plans for the school's renovation, and the school was initially scheduled to close for the first time in July 2014 and reopen in September 2015.
Events
Prior to massacre
The day of the shooting on Monday, April 22, 2013, as according to reports, Ethan Bradley obtained his firearms from his neighborhood house and entered the bedroom. There, he is said to have left a suicide note for public viewing. He described how much anguish he was in and how much he wanted to "make Brookhaven a terrible place" in the letter before concluding, "Well... This is the end for me. the conclusion for you. Your mother's demise. The conclusion for your dad. everyone's demise. the demise of my parents and all the people I had loved. I'm going to released my frustration, anger and soul on all of you today. Farewell, world. As my parents, you tried to change me for the better, but you failed and God, tell my parents that I hated them.. Thanks". Then, as he had previously stated, Ethan went to get a knife from the kitchen but dropped it out of rage, claiming that "he didn't need it," before taking his parents' car to the school.
The two firearms, the Colt AR-15 SP1 rifle and Remington 870 pump-action shotgun were then left inside by Ethan, who covered them with boxes and other items to avoid getting attention. During class, Ethan asked his math teacher, Ayden Washington, if he could use the toilet between 10:20 and 10:30 a.m., and she said, "Yes," allowing him permission. Given how close the classroom was to the main door, any student may notice it. Despite his desire to use the toilet as "he promised," Ethan elected to walk outside, complete a circuit around the back of the school, and get his Colt AR-15 SP1 and Remington 870. One of the witnesses who saw the shooter first ran in shock and terror, believing he would be "shot in the head." Nonetheless, the witness remained uninjured throughout the encounter. But, he was met with backlash for failing to warn anybody on the street about the gunman and faced legal action from some of the victims' parents; however, the lawsuit was dropped after a series of occurrences the following year. Ethan was "not in the mood" when he walked into his art school, according to his classmates who survived the shooting, and when his instructor tried to calm him down, Ethan allegedly exclaimed, "Shut the hell up!" "You're making me want to kill this dumb class and everyone in it!" he said, then raised his desk, before leaving.
Start of shooting
Ethan returned to the school's front door, entered the classroom, said "Hello, everyone!" and began shooting at the children. He was the first to utilize the AR-15 during the math class shooting, blasting more than 400 rounds in less than three minutes. When they heard "huge booming sounds," several employees on the other level rushed into a small classroom where ten students and their instructor were sheltering. A staff member saw grey smoke rising from one of the classrooms and heard "loud" noises coming from downstairs. The employee then hurried to a nearby classroom, which was noticeably vacant because the students had just departed on a field trip to a nearby museum. The principal, who was with a different youngster, heard the gunshots and hurried under his desk to issue the order for a strict lockdown.
There were going to be at least twenty individuals running for their lives to the bottom of the floor. But their teacher stepped in and convinced them to take cover in a different classroom. A student reported seeing someone shoot at random "with a weapon" in his hands. The initial 9-1-1 call was placed at 10:25 a.m. by a young adult who was hiding away in a small room with a bunch of kids, and many police cars were sent to the school the very next minute. The principal called the police at 10:26 a.m.
The first victims shouted in panic, two of them trying to get away from the attacker as soon as Ayden Washington noticed the pistol and cried, "Holy shit!" A student in the class named Sammy Hopkins allegedly exclaimed, "Get down!" while one of the victims wailed, "Oh my god," and a number of individuals apparently said, "No!" and sobbed uncontrollably before they died. Ethan started shooting at the teacher, who was one of the first victims the perpetrator had shot. After receiving many gunshot wounds to the head, legs, arms, and chest, the teacher passed away.
One of the students yelled "Why you doing this!", in which Ethan responded with "Shut up, this is your end". Then, he suffered severe injuries that destroyed his entire body after being struck by bullets 30 times in a succession. Local police in the vicinity—which was close to the park and the school—rushed to the scene when they heard "gunfire." They ordered everyone to seek cover even though they could find no evidence of gunshot residue, visible proof of shooting, or a suspect.
The gunmen shot the victim after they had damaged the desk and sent bits of wood flying across the classroom, injuring a child in the process. As one student attempted to hide beneath a desk, multiple gunshots were heard. Within moments of the internal shooting, the math classroom had been completely demolished. At least ten police officers had arrived on the scene. In order to avoid being hit by gunfire, they chose to hide behind some trees. There were around nine children and one teacher that Ethan died in that classroom, and at the time, there were also "unknown number of others" who were hurt. A significant number of citizens inquired after reporting hearing "gunshots" coming from within the school.
When they noticed smoke coming from the structure, gunfire coming from within, and a pool of blood blowing up, they started "freaking out." A cop began to sprint toward the school, but he chose to enter through the gym on the back side of the building since he could see the window and the gunman. By then, a large number of additional cops from the adjoining police station had started to run out the door and onto the street. While they were doing so, they heard several quick gunshots and made the decision to hide inside the station. They then called for "extreme backup," a response that is only used in dire circumstances, such as when there is a well-known active shooter. Additionally, they gave the order for their five detainees to hide within their cells, with some of them rushing to check on the prisoners to the while the others went to the scene.
Shootout

In that moment, Ethan opened fire directly at a window, showering gunfire outside onto the main street of the event, which was crowded with people. He began by aiming at the daycare, breaking through the glass and shooting six toddlers, one of them was their teacher, Erin Hutchinson, who was trying to protect them. After the daycare was hit by gunfire, Erin is said to have exclaimed, "Oh my god!" and cried out in agony, covering two children while she did so. The daycare sustained significant damage. An officer standing close to the structure yelled: "Retreat! He is aiming his bullets at us". After that, Ethan fired randomly, according to the police, moving his AR-15 smoothly left and right. In one to two minutes, he repeated the same action over fifteen-to-twenty times in a succession, firing 750 bullets in all. Gunshots struck a number of cops who were rushing to the site, and another group of police officers ran and hide behind an office building. After hearing gunfire coming from the pistol, the cops started shooting back at the gunman. "Numerous gunshots" could be heard in a Facebook video that sounded, according to RNN reporter Bennie Christian, like "a conflict in the middle of the Middle East."
Erin Hutchinson called for one of the cops to look after the children, but the officer didn't hear him because of the quick gunfire and the countless bits of glass flying around. A number of police officers started to retreat from the gunman as a result of the constant, fast-paced gunfire. Later, Ethan opened fire on five police officers who were attempting to get into a police car, injuring each of them. The gunfire was so rapid that it "sounded like the area was in the middle of a huge war," according to police officers, that many of the people who were present at the scene started to flee and hide behind buildings, increasing fear of several shooters in the area rather than just one shooter. When they first began hiding inside establishments, several of the owners had everyone enter and hide behind counters.
Many windows sustained considerable damage as a result of the gunfight. With over a hundred law enforcement personnel and citizens inside the establishments, Ethan opened fire, killing more people and causing more damage. The neighboring house was being used as a shelter by many people, and as soon as the first bullets were fired, the inhabitants began yelling and running down the stairs, causing havoc. Ethan fired fire, injuring six individuals, as soon as he saw this. Six bullets were fired into the skull of a young adult who was running into the daycare's parking lot during the gunpoint.
At least seven persons were wounded during the shootout, one of them fatally. Ten injuries and one fatality were caused by the 50 gunshots that a local bus with about thirty passengers experienced; the bus driver also suffered injuries from shattered glass. Ethan then began targeting the daycare again, injuring an additional three children and fatally wounding a one-year old. At that point, Ethan started yelling at the police, exclaiming, "Yo! Why are you behaving so afraid? How terrified are you? You have a lot of fear in yourself! Come on over! Please come get me, everyone!"
He shouted, "Well! Brookhaven will endure eternal suffering as a result of all of you" when he saw that the "cops were not listening to him". The cop allegedly said, "I want to, but this is too much for all of us here," in response to a citizen's question about why he was not firing at the shooter, just before gunshots hit the store they were inside. The gunfight allegedly grew so bad and hazardous that the cops abandoned their weapons and began sheltering inside the building with the civilians. By this point, the police were talking over the radio with other officers about getting snipers to kill the cop. However, when the shooter started shooting quickly in their direction, they abandoned the idea out of concern that the gunman might see the snipers and shoot them without warning. Subsequently, Ethan began firing at the surrounding homes, concentrating on the larger ones, smashing windows, destroying furniture, and letting bullets fly inside. A family was among the nine individuals who were shot inside their houses during the attack.
English classroom massacre
Subsequently, he started firing at another window that faced a corridor. At least six further persons were injured by the gunshots, two of which were staff members and one of them died. The majority of the bullets impacted classroom windows, and one of them also struck a glass that was in the window of a school bus. Following his footage of the whole math shooting, Ethan went outside and headed straight for his English classroom. Within a span of just six minutes, Ethan was able to murdered over fifteen people and wounding dozens of people. Ethan started shooting at the classroom as soon as he saw the windows that were visible in front. According to reports, Ethan aimed his rifle toward the bottom and fired there as the children started to shelter behind their desks.
When one of the cops started shooting at Ethan, he shot him in the process, and three staff workers who tried to stop him were all shot dead. Before instructing his students to climb out of the window, instructor Morgan Palmer was shot in the head. After that, Ethan enters through the window and starts firing at the pupils, killing them all in less than 30 seconds. He started shooting out of the windows during the reading classroom shooting, breaking glass and wounding eight individuals, including children who were supposedly sheltering behind various things.
As the first responding police officers ran to the front of the doorway, Officer Lynn Molina was shot in the face and later killed. One of the officers saw that she was injured after she was shot and went to her quickly in an effort to awaken her. She had already lost a lot of blood and passed away when he sought another police or officers to aid in her recovery. Ethan then started firing at other workers who were holed up in closets as he headed toward the stairs. He then started firing at the painting area, damaging paper, painting other individuals, and shattering windows while doing so. Approximately seven people were hurt in all, one of whom was a six-year old child. Ethan allegedly said, "I hope everyone comes out! I have a gift for you!" and started to shoot additional bullets towards the principal's office. A pupil was shot by gunshots, however the principal managed to leave unharmed and assist the wounded kid. Then, as Ethan approached a classroom containing more than fifteen students, he opened fire at the door, killing three of the students and wounding two more. The teacher was also among the victims. Ethan had intended to enter the classroom when he heard "footsteps" and an officer calling for him to raise his hand.
End of shooting
When a number of officers entered the building while Ethan was on the top floor, one of them made the decision to charge the gunman while brandishing a military gun, which "could have killed him" but narrowly missed and struck a wall instead, wounding two people in addition to one of the officers. Ethan had left his Remington 870 in the math classroom, unused, for a few minutes, so he hurried toward a window and sprang out with just the AR-15. Following that, Ethan ran to a nearby store and was about to enter with the AR-15, intending to shoot anyone who was trapped inside and hiding from the gunfight. However, a police officer who had been pursuing him the entire time stabbed him; the officer suffered a leg wound but was still able to run and approach the shooter without the shooter realizing.
By a nearby ambulance, the other officers placed Ethan under custody at around 10:52 a.m. Ethan started to move a lot throughout the procedure and called for the police to "get the fuck out of [his] way," but many policeman instead pushed him further to the ground. In total, over 20 people were murdered and at least "30 people were wounded". The shooting lasted for a total of twenty minutes.
Immediate aftermath
Students in one of the classrooms reportedly tried to exit the building through the front window as soon as the last shot was fired inside the school, but multiple police officers broke in and ordered the students to exit through the back door. One student claimed to have seen "a bunch of dead bodies". Well-known janitor Blake Navarro was shot multiple times in the legs during the shooting. Afterwards, Blake managed to crawl through the door and into a nearby office space, where he discovered a dead body from gunshot wounds—it turned out to be a staff member. Following that, Blake made an effort to smash through the window by grabbing something and hurling it into the glass, nearly shattering it in the process. Blake broke out of the window and climbed out after more than 20 minutes of bleeding to death from the loss of blood, only to slump upon the pavement. Blake would survive the gunshots he had received.
Almost ten injured people, including toddlers who had all passed out from blood loss, were found inside the fully damaged Building Blocks Kindergarten, which had glass all over the floor from gunshot wounds. Since most of them were concentrated on the gunshot scene rather than the other buildings, Erin Hutchinson, their instructor, who was the most hurt, tried to call for help but was turned down. Not long after Erin gave the last cry, one of the kids, Kyler Faulkner, would pass away, and Erin herself would thereafter collapse from hemorrhage. Following some time, the Daycare was completely evacuated, resulting in the area being placed under total lockdown. During the firing, more than 100 stores reported having windows that were broken, chipped, or totally smashed. At least 20 police officers were claimed to have been hurt.
Victims
Numerous reports from the same day of the massacre stated that there were much more casualties from the shooting than there were confirmed deaths—roughly 40 people were killed and 90 injured. But by the next morning, thanks to copious police data and conferences, the number of fatalities and injuries had significantly dropped, finally equaling the total number of gunshot victims. With 94 persons reported killed or injured, the Brookhaven shooting was the highest death toll of any mass shooting, before the 2024 Sacramento school shooting, that left over 95 people dead; initially, there were almost 100 casualties, but that number dropped within hours of the incident.
Casualties
A total of 35 people were murdered in the event, including officers from both the school and the surrounding area, staff members, and kids. Between the ages of 14 and 18, around 17 of the victims of the incident were high school students from Brookhaven High School. Approximately eleven of the deceased victims were also employees; two of the instructors were in the classrooms, while the remaining employees were in the hallways. Four children aged between one and five and three adults were among the seven victims who were shot dead outside of the shooting. All of these deaths occurred during the gunfight between Ethan and the police. Seven of the dead victims were from the English classroom, while nine of the fatalities were found in the arithmetic classroom. The majority of the 56% of the deceased victims were born close to the school and were residents of Brookhaven or the state in which the city is located; the remaining 44% were residents of other cities and states. Among those who were murdered by gunshots were:

Injured and survivors
Officer Phoenix Tanner was among of the first officers to be wounded from gunshots.
Along with a few cops and adults involved in the gunshots, over 59 other people were hurt in the incident. When Ethan was firing from both classrooms, the majority of the casualties were shot from within the school. When the perpetrator started firing toward the area, it was claimed that over eight-to-ten people were injured (which doubled to over twenty people), including over eleven cops who had been shot many times. At least one employee at an ice cream store was struck in the arms by one of the stray shots, and nine other youngsters were also injured by the gunfire. It was originally stated that one of the workers from an another local ice cream shop was hurt by gunfire; he was treated on the scene for his injuries, which were actually limited to glass breaking. The majority of the individuals got smoke into their months as a consequence of the gun's smoke, which filled the whole classroom, some of which even spread to the next street and blanketed half of the building.
At least one person fainted, even though they made it through the haze. One of the first cops hurt in the incident was Phoenix Berry. Berry apparently had been walking toward the front entrance when Ethan shot him in the arm and leg, causing him to fall to the ground and gushing blood from his body. Berry was sent to a hospital outside of Brookhaven because gunfire had damaged the nearby hospital. Although he would survive the gunshot, the event left him with severe trauma. Barry and two other unnamed cops were among the nine gunshot victims being treated at Fairmont Medical Clinic on April 23. Both of them would go on to survive.
The same day that they released their report, Silverstone General Hospital announced that they were treating 10 patients for various conditions, including smoke inhalation and glass debris, which resulted in bleeding from the fingers and other portions of their bodies.Tristin Phillips, a Brookhaven resident of 20 years, was the first victim to be freed. He was shot in the leg on the day of the shooting and was released on May 6; he is still recovering after his surgery. Ten-year-old Kayden Conrad was the final victim to be discharged from the nearby hospital. being released on July 6. Previously, she was shot 19 times during the gunfight between Ethan and the police.
Aftermath
Police swiftly blocked off the path where the school shooting occurred and advised the public not to approach it. Still, access to the location was granted to reporters, more police officers, nurses, and others. After posting on social media about an active shooter situation at Brookhaven High School and the fact that "at least one person had been hurt," the Brookhaven police issued an order at 11:00 a.m. allowing parents who lived nearby to see their children who were being evacuated from the school through windows.
The entire center portion of the place was cordoned off by police due to the seriousness of the incident. The order caused the nearby malls, schools, and businesses to close. The Brookhaven area was placed under complete lockdown at 11:30 a.m., almost one hour after the shooting finished. Residents were forbidden from leaving "any homes until the threat of the event was over." With the majority of the casualties outside being transported to hospitals, police started to evacuate the area at approximately 12:00 p.m. After widespread media coverage of the incident, they gave the order for everyone else to leave the house. Due to "serious events" outside the building, parents of students enrolled in the school were advised not to pick up their kids. An hour later, the police gave the order for parents and kids to meet in a nearby residence, which was five blocks away from the scene.
Tributes and memorials
A few individuals erected monuments in front of the school a few hours after the incident. In honor of the departed and injured on April 23, Mayor Gabby Hamilton organized a commemorative ceremony lasting one hour. He concluded by mentioning the town's worst moments since the year 2000 and said, "We all need to pray for Brookhaven." A massive vigil was place the day following the shooting in the heart of The Gardens of Reidwich, a park four miles from the main location. Approximately 1,000 individuals attended the gathering, including Brookhaven High School students. In remembrance of the shooting victims who died, 35 balloons were released at a second vigil held by The Gardens of Reidwich, which took place both inside and outside of a nearby building. On October 26, 2013, not long after the massacre, Gabby finally shared her concept for The Brookhaven School Memorial, which would open not far from the original shooting site. Numerous fundraising events were arranged in memory of the shooting victims by Emerson Lawrence's mother and father. They claimed to be doing these actions to arrange their daughter's burial and to show respect for her departure.
The Emerson family received more than $50,000 in contributions from over 5,000 people in the days after the campaign was launched. Among them were members of the government, who texted the family to urge them to "stop gun violence." Like the last one, a new fundraiser was launched with the intention of healing the "wounds" and harm caused by the bullets. In the wake of the shooting, several fundraisers were organized, most of which were centered around the victims' funerals. On May 7, a memorial named "The Day That Brookhaven Changed," in reference to the mass shooting that took place, was constructed next to the school. In a statement that was talked by on April 23, 2013, George Cummings, the sports owner of the Railroad FC of the Robloxian Premier League, in a letter donating over $500,000 to each campaign for the victims' family, while saying "Enough is enough. I have had enough of these shootings occurring at every turn. Nothing is secure now, it seems. This shooting has completely destroyed Brookhaven, and it could have been prevented if we had only done one small thing".
On April 25, 2013, citizens Justice Hopkins, Robin Mcdonald, Bennie May, Denny Wallace, Silver Wall, and Bev Mcgowan erected over 35 crosses in a line to honor Jesus and the victims. The tributes attracted the attention of major media outlets, including RNN, FOX News, NBC, and RBC. Robin received over $10,000 in exchange for donating all of the money to the hospitals that were caring for the injured victims. The Dodger Company held a 35-mile race against competitors on May 10; all competitors were declared "winners," and thereafter, balloons were released and prayers were spoken for the victims. More than a thousand residents of Brookhaven launched "balloons with flowers, everything that the victims were interested in at the time, inside of a wooden bucket, with a huge light in top of the flying object" on May 19 as part of the Brookhaven festival in the aftermath.
School continuation
After the attack, the school was shut down for over 2 months to allow police and investigators to search the scene, and gather evidence. Students were given the opportunity to attend classes in nearby Bloxburg, but this was optional and students were given the option to not attend school for the rest of the year. In June of 2013, the town of Brookhaven announced that the old school would be demolished. According to the memorandum, this was done out of respect for the victims, and to address the damage done to the building. Pinewood Builders was contracted to begin demolition of the building in July 2013, while construction on the new school was underway. Students who attended the old school would be allowed to attend the other high school in the district, Madison County Academy High School.
In February 2014, the new school was 80% complete, and 9th-10th graders were permitted to come to the new school. Starting in August 2014, the school was complete, and it begun serving grades 9-12. The site of the old school is now a memorial to the victims of the attack, as well as a monument.

Early life
Ethan Robert Bradley, commonly known as "Rob" was born on March 6th, 1995, to his parents Maddison Page and Milo Cunningham. His mother, Madison Page, was a heroin addict who worked for a gang known as The Jade Dragon Sisterhood. However, around the mid-1980s, Maddison was apprehended by police when his gang groups had placed narcotics in her hands, given her a pistol, and shot it in front of her, mistaking her for the drug and the shooting, with the gang pretending to flee from the "suspect." Maddison was imprisoned and later freed, starting in 1990. She then met Milo, who was also a heroin addict but was able to overcome his addiction, beginning in 1989, and they soon began to marry. Initially, they refused to have a kid, but with some suggestions, they began to make arrangements to have a baby in 1994.
