Brookhaven Regional Airport, sometimes called Madison Airport, is a regional airport located 3.1 miles away from the central business district of Brookhaven, the seat of Madison County. It is primarily used by small commercial aircraft providing passenger services and air taxi services to other cities, most notably Bloxburg Coeptus International Airport. The airport is sometimes used by general aviation, however the town government is in the process of phasing out such flights from Brookhaven Regional Airport to free up slots for commercial flights. Instead, most general aviation flights use Madison County Civilian Airport.
History
The islands surrounding the state of southern Bloxburg Valley had historically been unserved by any aerodrome due to their isolation from the coast. After Roblox War I broke out, there was a need to have a military base on the islands to prevent attacks. In 1921, the Madison County Airport opened, and was used for military purposes, and later on for delivering air mail. Starting in 1941 to allow the Madison County Airport to be fully dedicated to military operations, the construction of the Madison County Civilian Airport was completed, and used for general aviation. After the second Roblox War, Madison County Airport was renamed to Brookhaven Airport, and the town government funded a project to build a passenger terminal, which was completed in 1948, after four years of construction. This new airport had seven gates and served air taxi services to Bloxburg, other islands in Madison County and Sacramento. In 1953, the runway was extended from 4,300 ft to 5,100 ft, which is its current length.
In 2026, a second runway was made, signed as Runway 09/27. At Runway 09, there is a helipad. The runway is longer, a bit longer, it is 5,400 ft.
