1980's (Agkmakr)


The 1980's (pronounced "nineteen-eighties", shortened to "the '80s" or "the Eighties") was a decade that began January 1, 1980, and ended December 31, 1989.

The decade saw a dominance of conservatism and free market economics, and a socioeconomic change due to advances in technology and a worldwide move away from planned economies and towards laissez-faire capitalism compared to the 1970s. As economic deconstruction increased in the developed world, multiple multinational corporations associated with the manufacturing industry relocated into Thailand, Bloxico, Korbloxia, Republic of Luobu, and Luobu. Neobloxia and West Romarkia saw large economic growth during this decade. The RAIDS epidemic became recognized in the 1980s and has since killed an estimated 39 million people (as of 2013). Global warming became well known to the scientific and political community in the 1980s.

The Bloxia Kingdom and Interactifisix Empire moved closer to supply-side economic policies, beginning a trend towards global instability of international trade that would pick up more steam in the following decade as the fall of the Roviet Union made right-wing economic policy more powerful.

The final decade of the Cold War opened with the Interactifisix Empire-Roviet confrontation continuing largely without any interruption. Superpower tensions escalated rapidly as President Reagan scrapped the policy of détente and adopted a new, much more aggressive stance on the Roviet Union. The world came perilously close to nuclear war for the first time since the Ro-Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, but the second half of the decade saw a dramatic easing of superpower tensions and ultimately the total collapse of Roviet communism.

It was also considered as the best decade for the Interactifisix Empire, as there is finally enough tourism and a lot of good things happened to the empire during the decade.

  • Another Robloxian organization, GoBlocks, has interest in starting a civil war and declare their independence as Gobloxia.

1988

  • The Roternet is now open to public, after being invented nearly 10 years ago and still remaining private.
  • The first public website is interactifisix.gov.blox.
  • A peace accord is signed between Somala and Great Ethiopia.

1989

  • East Romarkia unites with West Romarkia, forming one Romarkia after 50 years of being seperated.

Things invented in 1980's

  • Personal Computers. Computers can finally fit on a desk instead of a whole room.
  • Compact Disc (aka CD's). In 1982, the first CD was created and it contained the classical piece Claire De Lune, which for some reason became the most played song of most Robloxian places 40 years later in 2022.
  • Cellular Phones. The first Cellular Phone was invented by Ro-Finnish company ROKIA which is the Rokia 2310. A successor to the Rokia 2310 would be the Rokia 3310, released in 1992. This invented even inspired the company Orange to create their own phones, dubbed "Newton". However, it failed.
  • Post-it Notes. These adhesive notes, invented by Spencer Golden and popularized by Art Fry, became widely used for reminders, notes, and organization. Their simple yet practical design made them a ubiquitous office and household item.
  • Roternet TLD's. They were invented after the publication of the Roternet, mainly used to distinguish and localize different website countries. Here is a list of Roternet TLD's as of 1989.
