History

Rorschach’s Visit

Following the murder of Eddie Blake, also known as the Comedian, Rorschach—one of the last remaining active costumed vigilantes—begins his own investigation. His search for answers leads him to Veidt Tower, where he warns Adrian Veidt, the former masked hero Ozymandias, that someone may be targeting costumed adventurers. Rorschach suspects a coordinated effort against former crimefighters, suggesting Blake’s death is only the beginning. However, Veidt remains composed, dismissing Rorschach’s concerns as paranoia. He suggests that Blake, given his government black-ops history, may have simply made the wrong enemies, brushing aside the idea that his murder was anything more than personal retaliation. Despite Rorschach's persistence, Veidt offers little reaction, fueling Rorschach’s suspicions.

Attack on Adrian Veidt

Shortly after Rorschach’s visit, Adrian Veidt became the target of an assassination attempt—one he had orchestrated himself to divert suspicion. Disguised as a delivery worker, Roy Chess infiltrated Veidt Tower, making his way to the lobby entrance. The moment he entered, he opened fire, but Veidt, ever the tactician, was already anticipating the attack. With preternatural reflexes, he dodged the gunfire, closed the distance, and disarmed Chess before the assassin could take another shot.

What followed was not an interrogation—it was theater. Veidt, a master of deception, pretended to question Chess. But there was never any intention of extracting information. Instead, with chilling precision, he forced a cyanide capsule into the assassin’s mouth, making it look like suicide. Chess’s body seized violently, muscles locking as the fast-acting poison took hold. Within moments, he was dead.

Break-In and Revelation

Determined to uncover the truth behind Eddie Blake's murder and the widening conspiracy, Rorschach and Nite Owl break into Veidt Tower, hoping to enlist Adrian Veidt’s help in exposing the scheme. However, their search quickly takes an unexpected turn—Veidt is nowhere to be found, having already departed for Karnak, his secluded Antarctic retreat.

Undeterred, the duo hacks into Veidt’s office computer, scouring for clues. What they uncover is more than just information—it’s a revelation. The data links Pyramid Deliveries and Dimensional Developments directly to Veidt Enterprises, proving that the powerful businessman isn’t merely a bystander in these events—he is the mastermind behind it all.
