The Tulsa Police Department Owlship is an advanced aerial vehicle utilized by the Tulsa Police Department. Inspired by the original Owlship, Archie, this modern iteration plays a crucial role in TPD's law enforcement operations.
History
Government Acquisition of Owlship Technology
Following Dan Dreiberg's arrest in 1995, the federal government seized MerlinCorp's assets, including the blueprints and schematics for his inventions. This acquisition enabled the government to replicate and distribute the Owlship technology to police departments, such as the Tulsa Police Department, which employs these advanced airships in their operations.
Operational Use
The Owlship is used during a police raid on a Seventh Kavalry hideout. Piloted by officers Pirate Jenny and Judd Crawford, the Owlship engages in aerial combat, utilizing its flamethrower to neutralize a fleeing aircraft.
Design and Features
The Tulsa Police Department's Owlship closely mirrors the design and functionality of Dan Dreiberg's original craft. It's equipped with advanced technology, including a flamethrower—a signature weapon of the original Owlship—demonstrating its capability in high-stakes scenarios.
Trivia
- The appearance of the Owlship in the HBO miniseries pays homage to the original comic book limited series, Watchmen, creating a connection between the past and present within the show's universe. It represents the transformation of vigilantism into an organized form of law enforcement.
