The Dark Fife Returns is comic book series written by Frank Miller, which revived a pirate character called Seaman.
History
Frank Miller wrote The Dark Fife Returns in 1985. This was an attempt to take a popular, cheerful pirate character called Seaman and turn him into a meditation on fear. It became Miller's most critically acclaimed work. A few months later, the squid hit New York City, and Miller never wrote another comic book again.
Trivia
- The Dark Fife Returns is a direct reference to Frank Miller's real-life counterpart's most famous work, The Dark Knight Returns, a comic series first published in 1986 by Miller that reimagined Batman as a dark agent of fear, breathing new life into the character with a take that continues to inform his modern persona to this day.
