The Crater

The Crater, also classified as M-Site//11.3.85/UK, is a research site in North Wales where Cartwithen Castle once stood until it was transported to Europa by Doctor Manhattan.

History

On November 3rd, 1985, Doctor Manhattan transported Cartwithen Castle to Europa. The teleportation left behind a massive crater along with irradiated Cherenkov-Glass soil found either directly from the voided foundation of the castle, or within the estimated radius (150 meters) of the teleportation event.

The massive hole where the manor had been became a popular religious gathering site and later tourist trap known as "The Crater". In 1997, a geological survey at "The Crater" is conducted by the International Institute of Extraspatial Studies. Scientists concluded that "The Crater" is contaminated with Cherenkov-Glass Radiation - the unique energy signature of Doctor Manhattan. Thus, the Crater becomes a worthless tourist trap. The following year, billionaire Sean Parker purchased the land and used his company, Parker Industries International, to salvage dozens of samples of the irradiated matter known as Blue Sunday, and sold it for a profit.

In 2001, the Nine Inch Nails, under contract by Parker, recorded their studio album The Manhattan Project at "The Crater".[1]

As of 2019, Blue Sun Laboratories, a subsidiary of Parker Industries International, continues to harvest mineral samples from the site now under the classification of M-Site//11.3.85/UK.
