Mysterious Island is a television series created by J.T. March III. It is based on Jules Verne's 1875 novel of the same name.
History
Mysterious Island was created by J.T. March III and was critically well-received, winning several awards including an Emmy.
While the show did receive critical acclaim, it was also controversial due to its portrayal of mature themes. Regardless of the controversies, the show became a pop cultural phenomenon. The show's risqué content, like most of March's work, gave rise to content-warning era.[1]
Trivia
- Mysterious Island could be a reference to Adrian Veidt's private island off the coast of South America where the Squid was created in secrecy. March knows that his grandfather, James Trafford March, unwittingly participated in the creation of the squid monster that killed three million people and was killed to cover it up.
- Mysterious Island is most likely an analogue to Damon Lindelof's (HBO Watchmen’s creator) previous work on the ABC television series Lost, particularly because both shows involve characters stranded on mysterious islands and explore themes of survival, mystery, and human relationships.
