Gameplay

Time Crisis follows the typical lightgun shooter pedigree: defeat all enemies to advance to the next area, one progressively harder than the last, and players must fight a boss at the end of each stage. Players have to keep an eye out for a timer, and for incoming fire noted by color-coded enemies (blue, red, green and yellow), or obstacles that are indicated with the word "DANGER!". Most of the time, players have to take cover by using the Action pedal (or a button on the controller). Some objects can be destroyed, allowing the players to save time.
