Taxi is a 1998 French film directed by Gerard Pirés. It's the first entry of the Taxi series of films and has spawned five extra sequels as well as a 2004 foreign remake set and filmed in the United States (oddly enough, neither of the French films never saw an official US release).

Storyline

A former pizza delivery boy, Daniel applies for a career as a Marseille taxi driver, driving them from A to B in a modified Peugeot 406 sedan. Meanwhile, the local French police led by Commissaire Gilbert is on a case involving German bank robbers, and they're ineffective to beat them thanks to a bank raid, but no one was harmed. But when one of Gilbert's inspectors involved in said case, Émilien, finds out that Daniel was caught speeding and thinks he's an ideal driver, they later team up to stop the robbers by all means neccessary.
