This is a sound effect that was typically used by Horta Editorial & Sound and Hacienda Post that is not currently available on any professional sound effects libraries. Some believe that it was the Nathan 6 chime steam whistle from Pere Marquette #1225. It also does bare a close similarity to the whistle on the RMS Wenonah II. But judging by the fact that it was done on air, it was very likely a custom-built air whistle.
