Image Example from Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) for the Sound.
This is a sound effect created by Skywalker Sound. It debuted in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and is most often used to accent explosions (i.e. debris or overshoots from an explosion). It is rumored to be considered possibly as an stock sound effect.
It should not be confused with part of CINESOUND - EXPLOSION TYPE 2/SoundDogs, Explosions Fires - Explosion; Big Cannon Shot Explodes-Distortes. Nsg.
