These are Skywalker Sound sound effects. They were created by either Randy Thom or Will Files, and made their debut in War of the Worlds (2005). The second take of this sound heavily resembles some of the clattering elements from SKYWALKER, TRAIN - SUBTLE WHEEL CLATTERS WITH LOUD SCRAPES.

- The Polar Express (2004) (An edited and higher-pitched variant of the squeaking element from the 2nd take or a very similar sound is heard thrice throughout the film. Once when the train comes to a stop outside Billy's house before the Conductor steps out of the coach the Hero Boy rides in, a second time in an extremely low volume when the locomotive's wheels lock up after the Hero Boy pulls the emergency brake, and a third time when the locomotive comes to a stop before Know-It-All gets his glasses back on.)
