The origins of this whistle (claimed to be a "Sky Rocket") are to be confirmed. Its earliest debut might be in Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985). It is one of the most common falling sounds in most media these days; it's occasionally used to accent fireworks launching.
This whistle is most often used by Hacienda Post and Jeff Hutchins, and it may be known for its presence in Cartoon Network's The Powerhouse Era (1998-2004) bumpers. It is usually not used in most Advantage Audio projects (except for those with sound design by Jesse Aruda, Roy Braverman or maybe Rich Danhakl), but previously it was also used in an episode of New Looney Tunes (Robert Duran?) and 2 episodes of Super Mario World (Paca Thomas).
