Afraid of Monsters is a 2005 adventure horror mod made by Andreas "ruMpel" Rönnberg for the 1998 first-person-shooter, Half-Life.

In the game, you play as David Leatherhoff, a man addicted to a strange drug, suffering from illusions, dreams picking at his deepest and darkest fears, now forced to fight to survive against horrifying monsters.

It was followed by an overhauled "Director's Cut" release in 2007, and received a spiritual successor in the form of Cry of Fear in 2012.

Synopsis

Your name is David Leatherhoff, and you're addicted to a strange drug. Lately you have started to experience illusions, dreams picking at your deepest and darkest fears. Finally, you go to Markland Hospital, seeking help.
