South City, also known as “The Isolated City”, due to its large distance from other major settlements, is a suburban city located in the southern region of North Bloxifornia, situated near the Bloxifornia River, which is considered the natural boundary between North Bloxifornia and South Bloxifornia. South City is located in Driftwood County. The city is occupied by numerous of residential zones and not much commercial zones. As of the 2024 census, the city’s population stands at about 102,408.
The city is known for its quiet neighborhoods and tree lined streets, and is a typical example of suburban life in the region. The city’s distance from the river has historically influenced its development, with early settlers relying on the waterway for transportation and trade. While it is quite far away from other large settlements, South City has earned a title as a peaceful community. The city is characterized by different architectural designs in certain places, and there is a district at the east which contains designs related to mid 20th century ones. The local economy is primarily supported by small businesses, service industries, and a manufacturing sector. The nearest large settlement from the so-called “isolated city” is New River City, which is about a few hundred miles away. However, there is a nearby town but only has 4,000 Robloxians and the following town also is considered isolated.
Etymology
The name "South City" is derived from its geographical location within the southern part of North Bloxifornia, near the borders, though not directly adjacent to any notable river or water feature. The term "South" in the name likely refers to its location on the very south of the state. The term "City" was utilized to reflect its urbanisation and economic increase during the late 19th century.
History
South City was founded in 1839, however history can date back even more earlier relating to different villages. It was originally a small settlement not too far away from Bloxifornia River. Its early economy was based on agriculture and fishing, as the river provided an essential route for trade. However, many travelled on quite large distances from the river to the city, relying only on the river for water source. Over time, the city's economy gradually increased.
In the early 20th century, as infrastructure improved and the population slowly grew, South City began to shift towards becoming a suburban residential area. The arrival of new industries and transportation further increased the development. By the late 20th century, South City had grown into a small suburban city, occupied by mainly numerous of rows of houses. There were also many neighborhood schools established for each neighborhood by the mayor in order to have a good design. In 2008, the mayor established parks along each neighborhood to further improve the city’s infrastructure.
Economy
South City’s economy is primarily relied on residential services, local businesses, and small industries, with a high emphasis on suburban development. The city is home to a variety of service related businesses, including retail stores, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and dining establishments. The city is mostly liked by Robloxians who are looking for peaceful areas. The city also has less crime compared to other places, however near the city crime often happens, as many of the areas are desolated.
The local economy is also supported by a number of small and medium-sized businesses, which response to the needs of the city’s growing population. In recent years, there has been a rise in technology and professional service industries setting up certain offices or branches in the area. South City benefits from its well-developed infrastructure, which includes access to a major highway going through the southern region that connects it to nearby industrial sites.
Housing and Urban Development

South City’s housing and urban development have been made the city as a mainly residential and suburban area. Since its establishment, the city has focused heavily on its growing population through the development of many neighborhoods, modern housing projects, and suburban services. The city mostly consists single family homes, with some small cheap apartment buildings and hotels. Most of the housing developments are spread across well-planned subdivisions with, tree-lined streets, and abundance of local schools and parks by the government, like other cities in the state.
In recent decades, South City has experienced a moderate urban expansion as usual, with new neighborhoods being developed in order for economic growth. Housing in the city ranges from modest starter homes to mid-sized residences to middle-class families. The architectural styles of homes in South City are mostly simple and with a style of tiles on the roofs, with some older neighborhoods showcasing homes built during the early to mid-20th century. Housing prices remain relatively cheap compared to larger cities in North Bloxifornia, making it attractive for families who want cheaper, peaceful and suburban life styles.
Urban development in South City has been guided by a series of zoning regulations and plannings aimed at maintaining the city's suburban abundance while ensuring the efficient use of land. The city council has implemented policies to preserve certain forests to prevent too much development which is a reason there are small houses and a majority of parks. There are significant portions of the land reserved for parks and recreational areas. Commercial and residential zoning is carefully managed, with most businesses widely focused in designated areas to maintain the proper style of peaceful residential neighborhoods.
Education

Education in South City is mainly managed by the North Bloxifornia Department of Education like rest of the state, which monitors a network of elementary, middle, and high schools serving the city's population. The department operates numerous of neighborhood schools, ensuring that every residential area has access to primary education within close distance. Most public schools in South City follow the North Bloxifornia State Curriculum, with a strong emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, literacy, and community engagement learnings. Several schools in the district have earned recognition for their academic performance, specifically in mathematics and sciences.
Other than from public schools, South City also has a large amount of private and charter schools that offer alternative educational methods which are although similar. Many private schools in the area emphasize specialized curriculums, including religious education, language immersion, or college preparatory courses. The city also has a well established community college, South City Community College (SCCC). While South City does not have a major university, many residents pursue higher education at institutions in New River City, the largest nearby settlement.
Geography and Climate

South City is located in the southern region of North Bloxifornia, some miles north of the Bloxifornia River, which forms the natural border between North Bloxifornia and South Bloxifornia. The city occupies a terrain of mainly low hills and some plains nearby. Surrounding the city are also low hills and patches of forest land. The city’s layout shows traditional suburban planning, with a grid of tree-lined streets mainly.
South City experiences a temperate Mediterranean climate, typical of much of North Bloxifornia. Summers are warm and dry, with average high temperatures reaching 29–31°C, while winters are cool, with highs at 7–9°C. Winters are warmer compared to most other places, due to the city’s short distance to humid lands which are mainly located at the central region of North Bloxifornia. The area receives moderate annual rainfall, most of which occurs between November and March, with snowfall rarely occurring in winters.
Transportation
South City’s transportation network mostly consists of roadways, with limited public transportation options due to its suburban nature. The city is connected to Southern North Bloxifornia Highway, which runs along the south of the state and the northern parts of South Bloxifornia. Due to the city’s isolated location, most residents rely on personal vehicles for commuting, and the road infrastructure is designed to accommodate suburban traffic patterns.
The city has a well-maintained system of main roads and residential streets, with Downtown Avenue consisting of multiple businesses and essential services. The city’s public transit is minimal, consisting mainly of bus routes that connect significant locations such as South City International Airport, the downtown area, and nearby notable neighborhoods. While there have been proposals to introduce rail or light transit services, the city’s low population density and suburban layout made low demand for such transportation services. Hence, the city’s transportation remains simple.
South City International Airport, located southeast of the city, provides domestic and international flights. It is the only airport located in the region, so many Robloxians from other nearby villages use this airport for long distance travel. Despite its relatively small size compared to larger airports in North Bloxifornia, it plays a significant role in connecting the region to other major cities. There are future development plans announced in August 2023 by the mayor on improving the airport. Plans on adding more sections and terminals were held to be starting construction around 2027.
