The Siren Building was a mid-rise multi use complex that was owned by Siren Corporation until it was subsided into the Lexington Investments Association. It was built in 2003 by DodgyConstruction LTD. and designed by I Have No Idea What I'm Doing Architectural Planning LTD.
Design and Destruction
The building was composed of what was unknown to be a low grade concrete and steel that was unfit for that purpose. It was unknown that this was the case until it proved ineffective in a fire, causing its collapse.
It had 7 floors, and was known for its beautiful elevators, which were the centrepiece of the building. It was discovered that in 2024, the old Siren Building's structure "would not have made it until 2025"
Buyouts
Siren Corp was incorporated into the Bloxian Islander Lexington Investments Association, which at the time was worth approximately €135 Billion. The ceremony for the buyout was hosted on the 6th floor of this building. It happened on October 12th, 2013.
Fire and replacement
The fire broke out at approximately 10pm on October 10th 2021 and the building fell on October 11th 2021 at approximately 4am. Due to people running away from the building, only 350 out of the 500 there were accounted for, leading to the belief that 150 people died. It was confirmed false when the L.I.A came forward and confirmed that "all occupants survived" and no deaths were confirmed.
A newer skyscraper, which is now the Lexington Towers, hosting Robloxia's 8th and 11th tallest buildings in the same complex, was under construction at the time. It had been under construction since 2014, and was investigated. It was confirmed that no budget cuts were taken and all materials used were fit for purpose and the structure is extremely fire resistant. LIA confirmed that the entire Lexington Complex took €120 billion to build, and it would cost "a quarter of that" if they used the same unfit materials as Siren Co used.
Previously, just before the fire, the fire alarms had an issue with being constantly set off by visitors who thought they were "good craic" which is a Hiberno-English word for "fun". Fortunately, the visitors that were there that day believed the fire alarm on the second they heard it. If it were another crowd who were usually in for the false alarm incidents, most of the occupants would not have survived.
The fire collapsed the entire main building, and the car park was at risk of collapse. The car park was cleared on October 12th-15th 2021, and it was demolished on October 16th 2021. Lexington apologised for the "Environmentally Unfriendly" methods they had to use, however a structural engineering team confirmed that "No other solution was safe, getting right at it with excavators and concrete grinders was the only method." saving the association from backlash.
