The Second Amendment to The Robloxian Constitution added clauses 42,48, 54, and 60 of the Robloxian constitution. The clauses gave Robloxians the right to bear weapons and the legal recognition of the castle doctrine as a form of self-defense among other things.
We The People of Robloxia... (WIP)
The Second Amendment to The Robloxian Constitution was first conceived after the election of Noobly Bloxington in 1784 by John Robloxams and E.T Cassel to combat the growing concerns of Bloxland invading Robloxia again. The fear of citizens had reached the president merely 12 hours after his election after a mail shipment had an entire chest full of letters addressing the concerns of invasion. Noobly Bloxington delivered an address the next day to quell their voices, thus starting negotiations for the establishment of an amendment to the Robloxian constitution with the Robloxian congress.
Signatures and Their Reasons
Beginning of The Signature's Woes
John Robloxams had advocated for a constitutional right to defense since the late 1770s after he took the Bloxston Massacre court case. Robloxams thought this was despite defending the Bloxlandish soldiers who fired on the protesters, he thought that the Robloxians in the crowd should have been legally obligated to fight back. Robloxams also found that the Bloxlandish men were on the property of a local craftsman's shop, which under Bloxland law required that all soldiers on private property must be protected, even at the cost of the property's owner, enraging him and Bloxstonians futher.
E.T Cassel believed that an amendment to the constitution was necessary to defend the citizens of Robloxia from internal affairs such as in the event that a tyrant takes government power. These beliefs were further flamed by John Bloxam's discovery, leading for E.T Cassel to take a firm stance, especially after his presidency, to ensure the people have the power to resist threats. E.T Cassel also planned to allow for paramilitary groups to be legalized, however this was shut down due to conflicting concerns with the First Amendment to The Robloxian Constitution.
James Bloxison, a Sons of Liberty member and well-known participant in the Bloxston Tea Party, thought that a national militia was required to ensure that growing crime within the nation doesn't spread. This would be done by introducing mandatory militia membership and weapons training. This, however, was shot down by John Robloxams concerning that if done, that would defy the principals of the First Amendment to The Robloxian Constitution. Instead, James Bloxison compromised that all men have a Roblox-given right to use any weapon in any case of attack.
Bloxamin Frankblox, a strong supporter of the right to bear arms, directly stated to president Noobly Bloxington while serving as ambassador to Rogaulia that he would at some point attempt to pass an amendment through congress that year. While in Rogaulia, Frankblox sent to a letter to the president that drafts for a constitutional to defense of oneself and nation should start immediate preparations. No recorded response was received.
Samuel Rodoms, an infamous producer of beer and extreme patriot, believed in much the same as James Bloxison in that one's property was to be defended. Samuel Rodoms coined the term "Castle Doctrine" as a legal code which would make an incursion into private property by any man could be met with lethal force. He gained substantial support within Robloxia for his ideas and was considered by all signatures as the most important part of the document.
The Start of The Eleventh Continental Congress (WIP)
As a result of protest from his cabinet, advisors, and congressmen, Noobly Bloxington declared the Eleventh Continental Congress. The congress was to address the Issue of Slavery in Robloxia, the right of Robloxians to own vast property, and the expansion of the Bill of Roblox (Which would add the second amendment) among other topics. The congress was called at the late evening on the 8th of July 1811 and was held in Bloxston. The majority of recounts used for reference are from Bloxlandish journalist Sir Jiah Douglass.
John Robloxams was the man who entered the congress. Robloxams entered after walking from 15th Street, he held all his papers in a basket woven from his wife, Abigail Robloxams, per the accounts of Sir Jiah Douglass. His informal attire and lighthearted demeanor towards the crowd of people outside the courthouse set the mood for the meeting. Robloxams declared the council to be within the rights of the public to hear. He entered the building and was watched through a window as he began to set final preparations for the meeting.
James Bloxison entered next, riding on horseback guarded by twelve Sons of Liberty minutemen. He entered at the late evening, about three hours after John Robloxams. He was met with cheers as he jumped off his horse and flaunted a document which included a section of his speech describing a mandatory national militia. After this, he took a musket off the hands of a minuteman and thrust the bayonet in the air thrice. He entered the congress as the second man with a handshake from Robloxams.
Bloxamin Frankblox came quickly after, riding on a cart, with very formal dress. He was accompanied by a large marching band playing "Bloxee Doodle." After pushing their way through the growing crowd of approximately three thousand, he lit a lantern located over the front door of the courthouse using the first ever Robloxian produced match. Frankblox adjusted his monocle before entering the courthouse with bow and handshakes from Robloxans and Bloxison.
The Text:
Clause 42 (WIP)
"In recognition of the paramount importance of fostering a collaborative and safe Robloxian State, the provision for a well-regulated Militia—defined herein as an organized, community aligned group of Robloxians, equipped to safeguard against threats both internal and external, is hereby established as integral to the maintenance of a free and functional Robloxia. Accordingly, the entitlement of individual citizens to possess, deploy, and responsibly manage weaponry or lethal assets, subject to adherence with Robloxia, shall not be abridged under any circumstances not expressly outlined by the governing administrative framework."
Clause 42, the opening to the second amendment, was written primarily by Bloxamin Frankblox. The clause outlines the basic reasoning to a right to bear arms and the ability for a regular citizen to defend the nation and themselves. Clause 42 gives a general framework for the regulations regarding the other clauses.
Clause 48 (WIP)
"The term "militia" shall refer broadly to any group of citizens who voluntarily organize to pursue shared objectives, defend mutual interests, or engage in collaborative efforts within the people's best interests. Paramilitary formations, defined as structured groups operating with a semi formal structure for the purposes of strategy, protection, or game, are permissible within the bounds of Robloxian policy, provided that their actions do not disrupt the unalienable rights of others, infringe upon Robloxian guidelines, or undermine Robloxia's commitment to inclusivity and freedom. Activities undertaken by such groups must align with Robloxian standards and avoid allowing exclusionary practices or behaviors that may be deemed harmful."
Clause 48 gives the definition for what a 'militia' is. The Clause also outlines the limited use of paramilitary groups to secure general interests.
Clause 54 (WIP)
"The range of permissible armaments available to users includes, but is not limited to, small arms, melee implements, snare, limited explosive simulations, and other interactive tools deemed appropriate for property invasion scenarios. Robloxia's government reserves the right to modify the availability or functionality of these items to ensure compliance with Roblox's ethical morals, global balance, and overarching Roblox safety standards."
Clause 54 describes the weapons that are of legal use for citizens.
Clause 60/Castle Doctrine (WIP)
"Recognizing the essential right of all citizens of Robloxia to enjoy uninterrupted ownership of their personal properties and spaces, the 'Castle Doctrine' shall extend to all owned lands, plots, and habitable assets. Within such confines, Robloxians are entitled to exercise defensive strategies, including but not limited to the strategic deployment of armaments, provided such actions remain consistent with Robloxian regulations outlined in clause 54. This ensures the citizen's right to maintain control, peace, and security within their domain while contributing to the broader integrity and satisfaction of the citizens of the Robloxian state"
Clause 60, outlines Castle Doctrine as a legal form of self-defense to promote the general well-being of the people and government of Robloxia. The clause ensures that citizens can take whatever measure they desire, as long as it is within regulation, to defend their property.
