The SJ-2025BLOX asteroid was a massive, 256-Robloxian-mile-wide celestial body that recently collided with Planet Roblox. Its impact on August 26, 2025 caused unprecedented damage to New Blockers City and its surrounding areas, surpassing the infamous Bloxulub asteroid event. After it hit, chikorita152e has effectively made some of its effects retconned, including the destruction of New Blockers City and its surrounding area and limiting destruction to a few selected buildings.

Discovery and Naming

The asteroid was discovered by Pablo Antonio Bloxingham, a Robloxian astronomer based in Bloxburg, earlier today, on August 24, 2025, at 9:56 AM Bloxburg Time. The asteroid was thought to have originated from the Salois System and was initially thought to have been a rogue moon that was ejected out of orbit.

The name "SJ-2025BLOX" was assigned to the asteroid for the following reasons:

  • SJ: Stands for "San Juan," referring to Paloblox Mountain in San Juan, Bloxburg Valley, where its trajectory was first confirmed by a team of scientists.
  • 2025: Denotes the year of its discovery and predicted atmospheric entry.
  • BLOX: A common prefix and suffix used throughout Roblox for notable places, items, and events.

History and Trajectory

Initial projections by the Robloxian Astronomical Society (RASA) indicated that SJ-2025BLOX was on a direct collision course with Bloxburg that was just recently recovering from the previous asteroid. In a desperate attempt to divert the impending disaster, RASA launched a powerful missile. While the missile successfully altered the asteroid's path, the new trajectory of the asteroid would send the massive rock hurtling directly toward New Blockers City. Nuclear missiles launched from Romarkian Sol Command facility, Mond Basis Eins will use rock-piercing tungsten shells and detonate their nuclear payloads inside the asteroid, hoping to destroy it completely.

On August 25th, 2025 at 8:16 AM Bloxburg Time, the Mount Paloblox astronomers have found more evidence that the impact would be devastating, which might cause the extinction of dozens to hundreds of species around Roblox. These include:

Many more species could go extinct. However, chikorita152e, the goddess of lore, knew about this and decided to give every Robloxian on the planet plot armor and every location that was seen as important plot shielding as strong as her and her domain, allowing Robloxian and Robloxiankind to survive unscathed (though in 2040, she allowed the asteroid to destroy Robloxia as she wanted to get Robloxians out of the Roblox world and into Marblox to foster future exploration of the Blox System).

Impact and Aftermath

On Tuesday, August 26, at 7:56 AM New Blockers City time, SJ-2025BLOX has struck the planet. The resulting cataclysm had the following effects:

  • Widespread Destruction: The impact zone in and around New Blockers City had been completely obliterated. The sheer size and speed of the asteroid caused widespread devastation far beyond the city itself. This effect was minimized by chikorita152e by only allowing it to destroy non-essential buildings.
  • Major Blackout: The explosion caused a massive electromagnetic pulse (EMP) that wiped out power grids and knocked out communication systems across a significant portion of Planet Roblox. All of the power was brought back on by chikorita152e.
  • Environmental Impact: A colossal cloud of smoke and debris has been thrown into the atmosphere, causing a impact winter that will plunge affected areas into darkness and cold weather for several days. chikorita152e has made it so that the darkness will end in several days rather than decades as originally foretold.

Comparison to the Bloxulub Asteroid

The SJ-2025BLOX event is widely considered the most destructive single asteroid impact in recorded Robloxian history. The Bloxulub asteroid, while a world-changing event that wiped out some dinosaurs, caused less immediate and localized damage than the destruction expected from SJ-2025BLOX. The Bloxulub event, which contributed to the disappearance of Robloxian dinosaurs, was a more long-term and widespread ecological disaster, whereas SJ-2025BLOX is projected to be a powerful, concentrated cataclysm. SJ-2025BLOX is the first ever massive asteroid to hit Roblox in its entire planetary history.
