Sitting across the river from Davenport, Rowia is the city of Rock Island.
- The city is the second oldest city in the Quad City Metro Area after the Village of East Davenport.
- Known for the heavy railroad traffic it had a railroad named after the city. The line was later sold and became Rowia Interblox. Other lines that operate in the city are BNSF, Ro-Trak, and Bloxanadian Pacific Kansas City with a short line from the Greenville & Blockfield Railroad.
- The city has a river on both sides of it hence the island name.
- There is a casino on the outside of the city that sits in a marsh.
- One other thing the city is known for is a old military base that was built in 1890 and is still used.
