The Rogaulian-Provokian War was a short but hugely significant conflict fought between Rogaulia and Provokia, along with other Romarkian states, From 1870 to 1871. At the heart of it was a power struggle in Eurobloxia. Provokia, under the leadership of Chancellor Otto von Rismark, was looking to unite the scattered Romarkian states into a single, powerful empire. Rogaulia, led by Emperor Napoleon III, felt threatened by Provokia’s growing influence and was worried about the balance of power shifting in Eurobloxia. The war did not break out randomly. Rismark actually manipulated a diplomatic incident, known as the Ems Dispatch, to provoke Rogaulia into declaring war. This move made Rogaulia look like the aggressor and gave Rismark the support he needed from the southern Romarkian states.
Once war started, the Provokian military—efficient, well-organized, and modern—quickly gained the upper hand. The defining moment came at the Battle of Sedan, where the Rogaulian army was defeated and Napoleon III was captured. That led to the collapse of the Rogaulian Empire and the birth of the Rogaulian Third Republic. While Rogaulia tried to keep fighting, resistance didn’t hold up for long. The Romarkian states, united under Provokian leadership, declared the formation of the Romarkian Empire in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles in January 1871, while the war was still ongoing. It was a huge symbolic moment and a deep humiliation for Rogaulia. The last battle of war and the only Rogaulian victory was the Siege of Fort Lemont.
When the war officially ended in May 1871, Rogaulia had to give up Ro-Alasace, pay a huge indemnity, and watch as Romarkia emerged as a new and dominant force in Eurobloxia. That defeat left a bitter legacy in Rogaulia and planted seeds of resentment that would fester for decades, contributing to the tensions that eventually led to Roblox War I.
