RBTV, short for Robloxian Broadcasting Television, is a major public and commercial television network headquartered in Robloxia City. Founded in 1980 by Sheryl Keene and Martin Smith, the network was originally created as a public service broadcaster funded by a national media grant, before gradually transitioning into a mixed public-commercial model in the late 1990s. RBTV is widely regarded as one of the country’s most influential media institutions, producing a variety of programming including news, documentaries, drama series, comedies, cultural specials, and televised films. It operates five national channels and three regional affiliates, and also maintains RBTV News, one of the oldest 24-hour news services in the country. It remains partially funded by the Robloxian Media Fund, with supplementary income from advertising, syndication, and streaming distribution.
RBTV has been known for its journalistic coverage of national and regional affairs, including its landmark coverage of the 1985 Armed Disease Control Center Protests, the 2005 Robloxian Rights Marches, and the 2024 United States of Robloxia presidential election. In 2004, it launched a digital division, RBTV Online, which now hosts thousands of archived programs and live channels via the BoxStream platform. Its investigative series Inside Robloxia and Civic Lens won multiple RMA (Robloxian Media Award) accolades for reporting. The network also airs cultural and entertainment events, such as the Robloxia National Song Contest, the annual New Robloxia City Parade, and the long-running late-night sketch show Blox After Dark. In 2012, RBTV Studios opened a joint partnership with Seventy Studios to co-produce docufiction and dramatized specials, including Sounds in North Bloxifornia (2014) and The Down Caves (2017).
As of 2025, RBTV operates a large production campus in Robloxia City and regional stations in many major cities across the nation. It employs over 8,000 people across journalism, production, digital media, and archiving. The CEO of RBTV is Linda Hall, a former news anchor and policy advisor who assumed leadership in 2021. RBTV is known for its strong commitment to accessibility, offering multi-language captions, sign language coverage, and extensive educational content. The network also runs the RBTV Academy, a training initiative in partnership with the North Driftwood Film School and Bloxford Guild of Journalism, aimed at developing the next generation of Robloxian media professionals. Despite ongoing competition from private broadcasters such as Telamon Media Group and RBX News, RBTV remains a household name and a trusted source of news and culture.
