The political system of Sebelsti, is officially a federal semi-presidential republic, according to Article 1 of the 1978 Constitution, where there is a president and a prime minister (who is sometimes called the “general secretary”), as well as a cabinet led by the president. Officially, Sebelsti is a one-party state, however, there are at least three political parties in the country, but sources show that these are often fake political parties which are all tied to the primary, National Party, which has ruled the country since the 1980s. There are no opposition parties in the country, although the freedom of political expression is nominally guaranteed in Article 18, despite it not being in effect most of the time.
Currently, Sebelsti is a semi-presidential republic , currently ruled by an authoritarian government, with BaconHairBlox being the latest president since his inauguration in 2017.
Structure
The government is headed by the President, who is also the head of government and acts as speaker for the National Assembly, who rules alongside a prime minister who is elected on five year terms, but is de facto subordinate to the president. There are no term limits for the presidency, but the prime minister must maintain the confidence of both the president and the legislature in order to maintain in power.
