Mark Austin Johnson (born May 28, 1947) was a Robloxian singer, actor and songwriter known for his many rich contributions towards music in the late 20th century. Many critics acclaimed him for his songs such as Do You Remember In The Field (1978), Watering (1975), John (1985) and etc. Johnson’s peak was between the mid 1970s to the mid 1980s with numerous of songs being heavily successful and well-praised by audiences and music critics.

Early Life and Education

Mark Austin Johnson was born on May 28, 1947, in Greenville, Wisconsin, into a family that liked music a lot. His father, Robert Johnson, was a pianist who was apart of a several piano compositions during the 1930s and 1940s, while his mother, Clara Johnson, sang at the local church often. Mark was the youngest of three children. His older siblings, Sarah Johnson and Dale Johnson, were actors and singers around the early 1950s. Sarah was born in 1934 and James was born in 1935. His siblings were more than a decade older than him suprisingly. Mark too, had a strong interest in music and often made up a few of his own songs to sing.

As Mark studied in Greenville Primary School, he was inspired by the songs of artists like Luther Carson, Jack Watson, and Charles White, and he began writing his own songs at the age of 12. His first composition was when he performed Going Through The Clouds (1952), when he was eleven years old. When Mark was fourteen, he performed in more school talent shows and other competitions in order to showcase his talents. He also continued composing of his own pieces and also learned certain instruments such as the guitar and piano. Mark also looked up to his siblings, who were actors and singers at that time. In 1964, he had graduated from Greenville High School.

Life and Career

Mark’s singing began in 1968, when he won a state talent competition with his original song Where Dreams End (1963). The song was quite ironic due to being Rock and Roll, however its lyrics were stated to be depressing. As he won, he managed to gain some recognition and reputation from the song and his win. His debut came in, With The Skies (1968), and the song became a local hit which was a great achievement. The song’s success led to the release of his debut album, Clouds (1970), a mix of Rock and Roll, Jazz, Soul, and Pop from other influences. The album consisted of tracks like Echos of You (1968), Without Time (1968) and etc which became hits.

As Mark’s music career started succeeding, he began acting. In 1970, he made his film debut in Time Flies (1970), a drama film consisting the themes of nostalgia, about how time passes by quickly. The film immediately became prominent and Mark also had gained a wide reputation for appearing in the film. Due to the success in the film and Mark’s increased recognition, he had more opportunities in other films throughout the early to mid 1970s. His appearance in the film, What A Car (1974), was a wide success. Mark also helped in composing a few songs for the film which two of them became nation hits, and were What A Car (1974) and Under It (1974). The both songs were rock songs with a mix of pop and a few other genres.
