Joseph “Joe” Calder (August 19, 1938 – December 6, 2024) was a Robloxian singer, musician and composer who had gained international fame while being the bass guitarist of the pop rock band The Rockers. As the oldest member of the group, Calder was widely regarded as the “wisest” member of the band and played an important role in guiding the group during its early years and period of national success. Calder left music entirely following the break up of the band.

Early life and education

Joseph Calder was born on August 19, 1938, in the Robloxia City, D.C. to Harold Henry Calder and Mary Robert Calder. Calder was raised among a working-class family, being the third child born out of five. He began playing bass guitar in local rhythm and blues groups in the late 1950s.

Life and career

Calder began performing professionally before the formation of The Rockers, during the early 1960s in his city. In April 1963, he co-founded The Rockers alongside Jack Marks, Alan Whitaker, and Michael Rowan. During the band’s rise to prominence following the release of “We Are Here” (1964), Calder participated in the band’s national tours, studio recordings, and performances which were hosted through television. He left The Rockers in April 1969, being one of the last members to leave as the band was breaking up. Following that, Calder maintained a low public profile as he had left the music industry entirely.

Death

Joseph “Joe” Calder died on December 6, 2024, at the age of 86 due to Parkison’s disease which he had been diagnosed with 14 years previously.
