James David Wilson (born November 29, 1955) is a Robloxian singer, actor, songwriter and writer. He is regarded as one of the best and influential singers during the 1980s resulting him to be a part of the Significant Robloxians of Music. Through the decades, his huge contribution to dance and music had helped him gain a huge reputation and fame. James had gained a huge reputation after releasing the hit album, Freezy (1982), where the songs had many catchy and unique tunes. In 2024, James had been injured during in the Battle of Bloxifornia during a visit to Bloxburg.
Early Life and Education
James David Wilson was born on November 29, 1955 at Rongton, Blorida, located at northern Blorida. His father, Harry Wilson, was a musician and his mother, Annie Wilson, was a teacher at a nearby school. As he grew up, he often watched films on the television at an early age. James had studied at Bloxton School at his hometown, a school that had been founded in 1887 and got shut down in 1974, after a devastating tornado. He had studied in the school till college. In 1966, after watching the series, Waldens (1964 — 1968), he got highly motivated to act and sing. He would also often practice these talents on his own. At the same time he was quite inspired by his father as he was a musician.
In 1969, when James was fourteen, he had worked for his father in his small business which was about selling a few products in a small general store. James would often also guide and help customers at the store. In 1970, he had recorded a small song in his father’s newly bought camera. “and the song was honestly actually good and he put in quite a lot of hard work, I respected his talents and I am proud of how he has become now” stated his father during an interview in The Robloxia Times in 1985.
Life and Career
Wilson had started his career as he made his debut in the film, Waiter (1976) as a recurring character and had also sang the song, One Day It Ends, in the film. Later on, a month later Wilson had moved to the city, Livetopia in order to proceed with his career and believed that there would be more opportunities at the place. On January 11, 1977, Wilson had released an album, Pretty Cold, and the album ended up being a wide success. About eleven days later, Wilson had received the news about his album becoming a hit. On February 2, he had done his first performance at a grand theatre at the city. Twelve days later, he had released the song, Grooving That Night, which also became very popular. He had continued his career as he released numerous of songs throughout the months and had gained a good reputation. His early songs consisted of mostly funk and pop.
Wilson’s songs often also played in some radios. He first signed a contract with the HQO Radio Station in order to play a few of his songs such as Bitterly Cold, Grooving That Night, Pretty Cold, and Accelerating Boat, which all of these following songs were released in the year of 1977. As the month of May approached, Wilson had signed a contract with director Thomas Davidson for a film along with several other participators who were directors, actors, singers and etc. The film was named Fighting The 40s, which was based on Roblox War II and was a biographical and historical film. It had ended up being a major success and Wilson had played as veteran, John Bloxander from the war. Wilson's songs during the late 1970s often included groovy tunes and funk.
On December 22, 1981, Wilson had stated on an interview that he would start working on a song, attempting to make it a wide success. He had started working on it during the early February of 1982, however he had not revealed on what the project would be to his audiance. It was on a song that was supposed to be named, Pretty Cold, and Wilson had struggled to find good tunes during the making of the song. On June, Wilson had gone for a long break to his hometown at Rongton. A month later, he went to Bloxanada for two weeks directly from his hometown in order to do a few performances. Wilson was quite known also around Bloxanada among a large group of Robloxians and he had done his performance on July 23. Fifteen days later, he had gone back to Livetopia and continued working on his song that he had earlier stated.
On September 22, 1982, when Wilson was twenty six years old, he had finished his song that he had been working on, Pretty Cold and had released it. There was a song and album at that name. The song had ended up becoming his most popular song and became a wide hit across the nation. Wilson had gained a huge prominence and recognition after the song. In an interview with RBX News in 1982, Wilson had stated, "I did not regret it at all". He had also stated that initially he thought that the song was not worth waiting for, for the audiance, however it was and that they completely enjoyed it.
As Wilson's peak was during the mid to late 1980s, crowds during his concert were often shocked and crazed during his presence, especially after just standing, similarly to the famous singer, Randall Bloxon, which had caused a small competition between the two. During a concert on December, 1982, a group of seven fans from the crowd tried to get onto stage towards Wilson.
On January 1983, Wilson had released a second song for the Pretty Cold album, releasing the song Moving After The Groove (1983). The song became a hit too due to its catchy tunes. Further on, several more songs were released for the album such as Hitting it (1983), See You (1983), Grooving Again (1983) and etc. Most of the songs in the album had reached number one in the billboard hot 100 list. Wilson had also gained prominence worldwide around Roblox. In 1984, he was added to The Significant Robloxians of Music and this was a great achievement for him.
During the late months of 1984, Wilson and the singer, also known as “The King of Pop”, Randall Bloxon both were aware of each other’s fame and both had similar songs and music. They had a small competition among each other and had tried making better songs than each other. On the first of January at the year of 1985, Wilson had gone on a tour with Randall Bloxon as they made a decision. They toured and had done concerts around Robloxia. Throughout the tour, they ended up becoming good friends as stated in an interview. On March 27, 1985, they both contributed in making the song, Moving Down (1985), which was later released during August.
Wilson's newly released album, Dance (1986), became a major success with about eight songs in it. The songs often included groovy tunes and instruments. All the songs were hits and three of them had reached number one in the billboard hot 100, which were Dance, Funking and Shaking Feet, which are still popular today. The album had sold nearly ten million copies worldwide till the present day. In 1989, Wilson had done the Dance tour hooking more than 350 thousand people.
On September 2, 1990, Wilson had had published his first book which was his autobiography including his life and how he came into success, and had also wrote about his childhood and family life. Wilson had managed to sell numerous of copies of the book worldwide and many had stated that it was a great and educational book too helping others understand how to succeed. Wilson had continued his career during the early 1990s appearing in mainly films as he focused on them. The films had also consisted music and instrumental events where he would sing. He would also start making his own stories, which were ten minute songs often.
From October 1992 to July 1994, Wilson had worked on his a new solo album, Power, which costed millions of money to make. In May 1999, Wilson had been in the concert of “Roblox War II”, which was based on RW2 and was a musical show that later on became very famous and popular. On December 12, 2001, director Sam Alden, started a documentary on Wilson and he had also acted in it until the documentary ended on November 3, 2002.
