James V (1528 - 1574) was viceroy of Hellismire from 1563 to 1572 and then leader of the rebellion against King Ezekiel I of Kionne. He was the son of Wagwan I and Kailela IV. He belonged to the House of Wagwan.

Life

He was born at Monterey Palace in Brookhaven in 1528. At that time, his uncle, Termen XIII, was king of Kionne and Brookhaven. James V was named after his ancestor (great-great-great-great-grandfather), James IV. Young James got along well with his cousin and heir to the throne, Termen XIV, who was four years his senior. They played together and later served in the army together.

When James was fourteen, his father became viceroy of Hellismire, one of the northernmost strongholds of the kingdom. After the death of Wagwan I in 1563, James V became viceroy as his son. He visited Termen XIV, who confirmed his position.

In 1565, Termen XIV was killed in fight by his son, Ezekiel I. James V had to recognize him as the new king.

Rebellion

In 1571, James V gathered an army and formed the Termen XIV Banner Unit. This displeased Ezekiel I, who immediately began preparing for battle after the armistice with the Korbloxians came into effect and stripped James V of his title. The two armies met on January 30, 1572, at Melonville, where James V's army was defeated. James V's loyalists managed to fight Ezekiel in two more smaller battles, but James fled to L’Amour Territory.

Death

James V was assassinated in 1576.
