Nyaruko (also known as Haiyore!! Nyaruko-san) is a Neo-Japanese drama anime series that was aired between 2001 and 2014, it was produced by the studio, Xebec (best known for producing shorts based off the Petit Eva multiplayer video game between 2007 and 2009).

Premise

It is about the adventures of Nyaruko, a Robloxianoid who one day is sent to the residence of a young man, Mahiro Yasaka (aged 16) to become his best friend and protect him from evil entities who are trying to kill him for just existing.

Licensing

In 2007, the show was licensed in Robloxia by Avast Television from Xebec to air on the children’s network, Children's Avast Television under the name “Nyaruko”, the reason for the show being picked up was because of the action sequences and because Avast was trying to appeal to a female demographic due to a 2004 research paper confirming that 97% of Avast’s viewership were male while 22% were female and due to the popularity of anime at the time.

Reception

When it was first released, it was received negatively due to how every episode was the same thing.

However, several years later, it became popular due to shows similar to it such as Higurashi Daybreak.

Rating

It is rated TV-G by the TV Parental Guidelines, this rating is due to lack of sexual content, vulgar language and also for how tame the action-packed scenes are compared to most battle shonen anime.
