SS Newhaven

The SS Newhaven was an ocean liner that existed in 1923. Its construction commenced in 1921. Its sister ship was the HMT Bloxuisiana.

Sinking

Its maiden voyage departed Port Angus on September 29, 1923 at 8:33am and it was scheduled to arrive at Davenport on October 4, 1923 with stopovers at Cherbourg, Bloxeykjyavik and New Blockers City. Unfortunately, SS Newhaven would sink in the Atlantic Ocean on its maiden voyage killing eight Robloxians and leaving ten Robloxians alive while it was on the Cherbourg-Bloxeykjavik leg. The cause was that Newhaven was torpedoed by the Romarkian U-47 Submarine. There were attempts to beach the ship to Great Blasket Island as they were near that area.

Details

Newhaven was torpedoed around 10:35AM. The hull of the Newhaven was damaged severely, and there was a big hole in the starboard side of the bow. All bulkheads and watertight doors were closed quickly. By 10:40AM, the boiler rooms were flooded. This is around the time the lifeboats were being launched. Only eight lifeboats were launched because the two Collapsible Lifeboats were inadequately installed by Clyde Star Line. By 11:24AM, the steerage rooms, the pool, and the entirety of E Deck was flooded. This is around the time Blue Brookhaven died, and Sam Clutter had to shoot Murtaza and Murblox due to no cooperation for the crew’s orders. By 11:30AM, the forecastle was touching the water. By 11:27, the crew decided to not beach the ship to Great Blasket Island as the ship would sink faster. By 11:31, the steerage dining room started to flood. Murblox bled out and died. By 11:33AM, the first-class dining room was immersed, killing Bob Astor, Murtaza, and BoBuck Man 2nd. By 11:40AM, the wheelhouse went under, killing BL Smith. By 11:53AM, Sam Clutter ordered 'ABANDON SHIP' and where the operators left the flooding marconi wireless room. There was also a minor explosion by the Marconi machine in the marconi wireless room due to the water.

Final Plunge

By 12:00PM, the funnel fell, killing Jhon Jacob Astor the 7th, and crushing Murtaza's corpse. By 12:07PM, the ship went under, leaving Soap and Jack Blawton to pass away. By 1pm, the RMS Belfast arrived to see lifeboats and passengers on the water. All survivors were saved by RMS Belfast and transported to New Blockers City, and later Davenport.

Aftermath

On October 1, 1923, when the RMS Harmony was sailing from Dahanani to Southampton, they found lifeboats 4 and 6 from the Newhaven drifting on the Atlantic where the Newhaven sank. The RMS Belfast was in the meantime sailing to New Blockers City to transport the Newhaven survivors. Since the SS Newhaven was a Clyde Star Line ship, the RMS Harmony lifted those two lifeboats and transported it to Port Angus before resuming their journey to Southampton.
