Bay View is a city with a population of 918,000, and along with its neighbor, Robloxity, make up a twin city corridor called the East Robloxia Urban Corridor. The area has a lot of traffic congestion. In 2010, a proposal to build a metro was approved. In 2012, the Blue Line begun construction. Later that year, the third generation rolling stock from the Robloxia Subway Line 1 was ordered in 2016. It opened for passenger service, on October 27. In 2014, construction on the Green Line begun. This line would be fully automated unlike the Blue Line. PineWood Builders was contracted to build all three lines and the commuter rail train. The transfer of the aging 3000 series to the Bay View Metro continued until their full retirement in 2023 from the Robloxia subway. They continue to be the only rolling stock on the Blue Line. In 2018, the Green Line opened between Shoreline and Stadium; in 2019, it was extended to the airport. In December 2018, procurement for the commuter line started. Eventually, in 2019, a InterCity 125 locomotive, and Mark 3 coaches (which have slam doors that are closed by the guard from the outside and use a central locking mechanism controlled from the front-most door in the first car, the train operates in rakes of four with locomotives on either side.) were ordered secondhand from Stepford Express, with two sets of five cars being from Stepford Connect. An extension of the Green Line from the airport to the convention center was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but was finished in 2021. In 2017, the Purple Line begun construction, and in 2022, the Purple Line opened after being delayed from its original opening date in 2021, because of the incorporation of Phase 2 instead of opening it in two stages, and ran from North Shore to Central in downtown, and was extended to Grand Promenade in 2024. A future extension to Palm City and possibly to the city-state of West Bloxadi was paused in December 2024 pending a re-evaluation and is set to open some time in late 2025 or early 2026. In February 2020, the commuter rail train opened. In 2022, it was announced that four coaches at a time would be going to Kings Heavy Rail to be refurbished with tilting train technology. It was expanded to two rakes of four being sent. Because of this, the BTA leased three Rofleet trains from Trans-Robloxia Railway . The conversions begun in 2023. As of January 2025, 6 sets of the total of 12 rakes have been converted. As part of the Bloxadi State Sustainable Energy Plan, the line, which is shared with TRR trackage, will be electrified, but there is no plan to convert the commuter sets to electrical operation. In January 26, 2025, the Blue Line experienced a technical failure across the system which resulted in the suspension of service between Oglego on the Oglego Branch and Palm Center, and between Canal and Airport Business Area, resulting in the suspension of Blue Line service between International District and Convention CFenter. The portion of the line that runs on a track beside the Green Line in the airport (interlining) was one of the alternatives, as well as rail replacement buses. A BTA spokesperson said a hour after the incident began, that “it is a signaling and communications failure, as well as the automatic train protection not working. The system is unable to work without the train protection system. We are unaware of the resolution time of the incident. For the portion of the line which runs at the airport, please take the green line. For the other portion of the system that was closed, buses will run between Mall Of Bloxadi and the Airport Business Area. Trains will still run between Marina North and Mall Of Bloxadi.” At 6:10 PM later that day, limited service was able to be restored between the International District/Mall Of Bloxadi and Canal stations. The next day, there was another update that the Bayview Metro Consortium (57% Bayview Transit Authority ), (43% Potato Transit Authority Global Operations ) was troubleshooting the error and is trying to find the cause of the problem. On January 29th, the issue was fixed completely and service resumed the next morning at 4:30 AM. On February 1, 2025, it was announced by Kings Heavy Rail that the converted sets were undergoing testing at its Old Town Lake Test Track, and would be returning to Bay View in March.

Rolling Stock

The older Blue Line uses secondhand rolling stock from the Robloxia Subway Line 1, using refurbished third generation trains made by Kings Heavy Rail series trains, running in the Blue Line, the only line to not use fully automated trains. It uses TesGroup Rail’s URBRAIL 2000 Communications-based train control, however. It is a Grade Of Automation 1. The rest of the lines (Green and Purple) are 100% automated and require no driver, and are a GOA4. These lines use the URBRAIL 5000 CBTC technology, and use Synth Rail Car trains which are slightly similar, but not identical to the PST3R trains in use on the Potato Transit Authority in Potatoburg, and are part of Synth’s Megalopolis series of rapid transit trains.

The commuter trains use the InterCity 125 fleet bought secondhand from Stepford County Railway. It consists of a InterCity 125 locomotive, and Mark 3 coaches (which have slam doors that are closed by the guard from the outside and use a central locking mechanism controlled from the front-most door in the first car, the train operates in rakes of four with locomotives on either side.), which were ordered secondhand from Stepford Express, with two sets of five cars being from Stepford Connect. The conversion of the trains to tilting trains is ongoing (as mentioned earlier in the article).

Operation

The Blue Line is manually operated but does have train protection. It uses One-Person Train Operation (OPTO).

The Green and Purple lines have no driver and all stations on those lines have platform screen doors.

As part of a 20 year agreement signed in 2016, Potato Transit Authority Global Operations will operate the lines, including the recruitment of driver for the Blue Line, maintaining the technology on the automated Green and Purple lines, and upkeep of rolling stock.

All stations on the green and purple lines have platform screen doors and are air conditioned. Because of the mostly exposed nature of the blue line, and the lack of PSD’s, stations on the Blue Line do not have air conditioning, instead have ceiling fans mounted from the roof , even at underground stations.

Feeder Buses

All stations in areas without much bus service have feeder buses which connect to the metro stations.
