Watch here: ConvexHD - The Last Guest: Reimagined - The Origin | A Roblox Action Movie
The Last Guest: Reimagined is a 2026 American action and coming-of-age war film based on the story of the character The Last Guest and loosely based on the 2017 intention to wipe out the Guest race. Produced and directed by ConvexHD and XerocHD, it is a retelling of movie The Last Guest (2017) by ObliviousHD Studios. The plot centers on Guest1337, also known as Michael as a fake name and The Last Guest, his closest friend and brother Matt and Guest’s wife Daisy, and their family, as they become caught in a growing military conflict involving the Roblox Military and the Bacon Liberation Front. The cast includes Chazz Ravenelle, Genny Sherard, BlizzardTitanVA, Anastasia Virolly, SpudVR, AerelisVA, JunebugVO, Calethousand, BenTLSR, and Bundun. Chazz Ravenelle reprises his role as both Michael and Matt from the original The Last Guest film. With a runtime of 88 minutes, Reimagined closely aligns with its predecessor, which has a combined runtime of 89 minutes across its four parts[3], although Reimagined is considered only Part 1. Initial estimations suggested a shorter runtime of 45 minutes, comparable to the first part of the original installment, although this was later revised following its release.
Originally developed as the title The Last Guest: Remastered, the project exchanged hands with several directors throughout 2024 and 2025. MarcoHD officially began the project in 2019, before they stepped away from the Roblox animation community later in 2024 due to personal reasons. ConvexHD and XerocHD, who had known Marco, then gathered a team of largely solo and small animators together to work under a single centralized wing, also accumulating most of the original voice actors of The Last Guest in the process. ConvexHD has stated the main motivation for him for this movie's release is to return back an era of Robloxia media largely left forgotten. After ObliviousHD's disappearance between 2021 and 2026, there left a void in the Roblox filmmaking sphere that was never filled by anyone. With the leaps made in improving the technology for animation, but seeing it was largely being used for shorts content on YouTube, ConvexHD saw an opportunity to combine both mediums and return Roblox filmmaking in a new and improved way.
Production began in mid-2024 across multiple filming environments throughout Robloxia made by the design team and concluded in April 2026 after two years of production. Due to animation finishing touches and final production work, the film’s release was delayed from April 11, 2026, to May 9, 2026. The movie premiered on YouTube before releasing publicly worldwide through the ConvexHD YouTube channel later that same day.
Upon release, The Last Guest: Reimagined received largely positive reception from viewers and Roblox content creators, with praise directed toward its animation quality, cinematography, storytelling, soundtrack, and expanded characterization compared to the original film, but some criticized the pacing, character screen time, and plot concerns. Though within three days of release, the movie got to 1.5 million views and over 35,000 comments on YouTube. Within one week, it got to 2.5 million views and over 40,000 comments.
With over 50 crew members including animators, its voice cast, and artists, The Last Guest: Reimagined is the most expensive Roblox movie production to date.
A sequel and second act for Reimagined, titled The Last Guest: Reimagined - The Prodigy is expected to be announced in the coming months, although no official release date has been provided at this time.
Synopsis
A touching and emotional tale about the disappearance of Guests in Roblox. This story follows the life of a character named Guest1337, a Guest, whose very existence puts him in danger from a group known as the Bacon Liberation Front. The narrative unfolds the struggles he faces in a world where his status makes him vulnerable.
Plot
Childhood
The movie starts with a flashback conflict scene with the Bacon Terrorist Organization in the desert, where the military advances forward, including Guest and Matt. Guest gets below the barrier while Matt keeps shooting, and is fatally shot, with Guest grieving over his body.

The movie begins in Guest1337's childhood, where he is fishing with his dad. His father encourages him to stay strong as they adjust to a new life in a world divided between two groups: Guests and Bacons. Michael’s family is one of the few remaining families of their kind. On his first day at Bizville Elementary School in Bizville, he wears his hood to hide his identity and is given the fake name Michael to stay hidden. His dad warns him to be cautious around the Bacons and to stay out of sight. At school, 1337 heads to his locker and encounters a classmate named Daisy, who trips and drops her books. He sees two boys, Simon and Zane, bullying her and decides to stand up for her. When he questions the bullies about their behavior, they insult him and are told to go back to class. Later, in class, Guest introduces himself and shares that he moved to the area because of his dad's job. He sits at Table 4 and meets Matt and Daisy, while a rivalry develops between him and Zane.
While the three are hanging out by the shed, Simon and Zane approach them and are confronted. The confrontation escalates into a physical fight between the four in which Guest uses a rock to defend himself and permanently cuts Zane’s face, as well as revealing the blue Guest hair to everyone in the process indirectly through the hood being taken off. Following the fight, the five are sent to the principal's office. To save Guest from being expelled for his actions, Matt lies to the principal and takes full responsibility for the injury, resulting in three days of in-school suspension. When Zane gets home, he discusses with his dad, Ezekiel, about what happened and that Zane is not taking training seriously enough. His dad gets a phone call from the General of the Bacon Liberation Front that Guest1337’s family moved into town and that they have it dealt with.
His family walks to the park at night, not noticing The General of the Bacon Terrorist Organization in the park. When they stop at the park, they stay still, noticing a sound (from the General, although all unaware), saying that they need to get back home. The General reveals themselves and points the gun at his dad, and is immediately confronted. Guest and his mom start running towards the woods, and his mom is fatally shot. At the playground, his dad is fatally stabbed. As the police arrive, the General runs away. Guest runs into the woods for safety by himself and is eventually found by the police.
At the police station, Guest is shaken and is transported to an orphanage home by the police and is taken in by Abby. He heads to his bedroom and struggles to process his grief through many days. One day, he is brought dinner by Daisy. Her and Matt share their own experiences of losing their parents, helping Guest realize he is safe and that he has friends who support him. Over time, Matt, Daisy and Guest grow closer and form an inseparable bond.
One day, the Bacon Soldiers track Guest1337 to the orphanage home to assassinate him again. Abby acts quickly, hiding the children in the attic and calling the police. The soldiers enter the orphanage and tie Abby. Two bacon rookies, distracted by the fully stocked kitchen, realize too late that Abby is talking to the police and accidentally shoot her in the shoulder. The General of the Bacon Soldiers attempts to find the children, but the arrival of the SWAT team forces the soldiers to flee. However, they are eventually caught. The children are rescued by the police. The Bacon Liberation Front is quelled for the next ten years and many of its members are sentenced to prison, while Abby makes a full recovery.
Older years and in the army
Over the next decade, the kids grow together and Guest and Daisy begin dating. The three eventually graduate from high school and marry. At their wedding, Matt, the selected wedding videographer, meets Molly, Daisy's 'pen-pal'[4] from childhood, whom he dances with and falls in love. Guest and Daisy have a baby girl named Charlotte. On her first day of school, he drives her. On the radio, the news reports that the General of the Bacon Liberation Front escaped prison.
At the pub, Matt and Guest are drunk. The Bacon Liberation Front emerges again and declares civil war with Robloxia. Him and Matt drunkenly decide to join the Robloxian Military and end up in the same platoon. At the bus stop in their army uniforms, they question why they even joined the army in the first place.
The recruits including the two arrive to Fort Blox for basic training. Guest is recognized as the last of his kind, and they undergo intense, often demeaning, physical training under Sergeant Jacobs. They both meet Molly, who attended their wedding, as well as Guest's former school bully, Simon. After Simon insults Guest's wife, Guest throws him to the ground. They also meet fellow recruits Magik, Duck, Rico, Kaz, Reed, Marco and Tim, who are all verbally accosted by their platoon leader Sergeant Jacobs. Molly, who also recently enlisted as an executive combat medic, flirts with Matt again. During basic training, Guest beats Simon in an obstacle course. Guest is given the call sign "Blue."
At the camp, the soldiers prepare for deployment. Guest and Matt bond with the combat medics, including Molly and the other three medics, as they get ready to head to the front lines. Guest entrusts Matt with a letter for his family in case he does not make it back.
At the front lines, Guest, Matt, Simon, and their fellow soldiers battle the Bacon terrorists. The military struggles to hold its ground in the harsh desert environment, and both sides suffer casualties and injuries.
The soldiers survive through the night and find a moment of peace to reflect on the fighting. In a hideout, Guest and Simon have a conversation. Simon apologizes for bullying Guest in the past, and the two find common ground.
Back at base, Matt and Molly help treat the wounded. Molly notices that he has a leg injury, and Molly treats him with bandages, While treating him, she playfully calls him a "good boy",[5]. That night, Simon and Guest reconcile while Matt and Molly almost share their first kiss, although they are interrupted by Sergeant Jacobs.
The next day, the battle continues and intensifies as the Bacon Soldiers launch a major counter-offensive. Simon is shot in the stomach and critically wounded. As Guest tries to help him, Simon tells him to run. Guest is forced to leave Simon behind as the battle rages on.
Simon is then approached by his former best friend, Zane, who is now fighting for the Bacon Soldiers. Despite Simon's face being partially obscured, Zane gradually recognizes him. The encounter reminds both of them of their childhood together at Bizville Elementary School before the war separated them onto opposite sides.
Simon deliberately detonates a grenade in his possession, killing both himself and Zane instantly.
The scene then shifts to the afterlife. Simon looks at Zane and says, "Hey... we're best friends, right?" Zane tearfully replies, "Right..."
The scene then cuts back to Michael's side of the battlefield.
On Guest’s POV, he reunites with Matt, and together with Sergeant Jacobs, they advance. During the shootout, he gets a near-miss shot forcing him to take cover, visibly shaken. Matt gets critically shot in the process. Guest tries to revive Matt, but no response is heard from him and calls for a medic while grieving. Jacobs suggests that they retreat but Guest refuses to.
Epilouge
Motivated by profound grief resulting from Matt's critical injury and a strong sense of duty to protect their families, Guest resolves to persist until every adversary is defeated, even at the cost of his own life. This determination is further done by a flashback to the admonition from Guest's parents to "always be strong." In an act of valor, Guest confronts his enemies, launching a grenade into an open fire, neutralizing the Bacon Soldiers. The Bacon General, who was responsible for the deaths of Guest’s parents and the orphanage attack, confronts Guest, demanding his final words before engaging in combat. Guest responds, instructing the General to "go to hell," prior to throwing a grenade onto a military vehicle leaking oil, resulting in a catastrophic explosion and leading to the collapse of a nearby watchtower. The explosion instantaneously kills the Bacon General, while Guest sustains critical injuries, though he is rescued at the last moment by Jez. In the aftermath, Guest is presumed dead by the Robloxian Army due to the inability to locate his body.
After the battle, while Daisy and Charlotte are at home, Daisy gets the heartbreaking news from a military officer that her husband Guest1337 had died in the explosion, although proven to be false.[6] A funeral held by Builderman tells everyone about Guest saying that he was the “last guest” in Robloxia. Matt is revealed to be alive.[7] After the speech, Daisy, Matt, and their daughter Charlotte are at the statue of a golden guest at night in memory of Guest. Matt hands out an envelope to Charlotte saying that Guest put it in his pocket while knocked unconscious. In a final letter given to Charlotte that Guest wrote for his family says to not let his death get in the way of forging friendships, experiencing love and moving on with life.
Charlotte reads the letter with the final words saying:
Because in darkness or in light, the strong never thrive alone.
So be strong, sweetheart. Always be strong.

Production
Development
ObliviousHD's profile picture shown on YouTube.
The Last Guest: Reimagined is distributed by and released digitally through YouTube, similar to the original The Last Guest (2017). Following the major success of the original movie, discussions surrounding a continuation of the story began shortly after its release across Roblox, community groups, and social media platforms. The original film’s storytelling, presentation, and large-scale battle sequences significantly elevated Roblox filmmaking to a new standard, eventually getting over 300 million views across Amazon Prime and YouTube as of May 2026.

Despite widespread speculation surrounding a direct sequel, ObliviousHD instead shifted his focus toward developing his original standalone projects rather than continuing The Last Guest. In July 2019, ObliviousHD released Blox Watch, a 20-minute Roblox action film that later got 10 million views on YouTube that served as the sequel to both The Last Guest and Guest 666. This was followed by The Bacon Hair in 2020, a three-part Roblox cinematic film with a combined runtime of approximately 73 minutes. The project became another major success, getting more than 60 million views by May 2026.
After the release of the movie, ObliviousHD, known as Matthew Horton, who had put himself as a self-insert in both The Last Guest and Reimagined as Matthew (Matt) Horton[8], became inactive within the Roblox storytelling community. In early 2021, Horton had suffered a fractured elbow and halted all video uploads and vanished from social media[9], which contributed to a period of inactivity and halted content production. His close collaborators, including community developer EnderFred, disclosed on Twitter[10] that Horton completely lost interest in making Roblox films due to the immense stress of trying to produce the final part of The Bacon Hair and due to the elbow injury. It had healed the following year[9].
In September 2022, his brother-twin Ben Horton, also known by his username as ForeverHD, revealed that Matt had been working on various projects which he was originally hoping to release in the following months. In June 2024, Horton's associates publicly confirmed on social media that Horton had permanently quit content creation to focus entirely on his personal life. Though he briefly teased a 2025 return on his Roblox Group page, he never officially resumed his channel.
Both him and Ben were featured on a BBC Business article in early 2021 after an article about them was posted with the title "We paid off our parents' mortgage making video games". It went viral across the United Kingdom.[11]
Public activity surrounding the studio significantly slowed down between 2021 and 2026, with no continuation of The Last Guest entering production. During this period, community speculation surrounding a sequel began, while numerous fan-made sequels and remakes of the original movie made by independent filmmakers appeared online. However, none were officially connected to Horton's work. Most of these projects were either canceled or failed to be completed.
In early 2024, MarcoHD Studios announced a project titled The Last Guest: Remastered, which is now the movie you see on this page today. The production aimed to modernize the original 2017 movie through updated visuals, revised animation, expanded depth into the characters, and rebuilt sequences using newer Roblox technology. Initial community response toward the announcement was highly positive, particularly due to growing demand for a sequel or revival of The Last Guest movie following several years of inactivity from Horton.
However, production difficulties had began, with MarcoHD Studios later withdrawing from the project during 2024 due to personal circumstances affecting leadership and development progress. As a result, the remaster project was abandoned before principal production had fully begun. The cancellation led to increased backlash within the Roblox community, as many viewers had believed The Last Guest franchise had been left untouched again.
By late 2024, ConvexHD and XerocHD, who had known Marco, took over the project and began developing it inspired by The Last Guest. Rather than creating a direct remaster, the production team instead took a large-scale narrative reconstruction intended to serve as both a remake and continuation of the original story. The project was officially then retitled The Last Guest: Reimagined.
According to ConvexHD, the goal of the production was not to replace the original movie, but to revive cinematic Roblox storytelling for a newer generation of viewers while preserving the themes that made The Last Guest famous to the Roblox community. Throughout development, the project had expanded and eventually became one of the largest Roblox cinematic productions in development at the time.
Production on Reimagined expanded throughout development, eventually involving one of the largest collaborative teams assembled for a Roblox cinematic project. Numerous animators, writers, builders, visual effects artists, composers, and technical developers contributed to the movie’s production under a centralized studio structure led primarily by ConvexHD and XerocHD. They had also acquired the original voice actor for Guest and Matt in The Last Guest (2017), Chazz Ravenelle, to voice them both again in Reimagined, and also later acquired many voice actors for characters.
Writing
The screenplay and narrative for Reimagined were inspired by the emotional framework of The Last Guest while introducing expanded lore, character development, military conflict, and political themes surrounding the Guest and Bacon conflict. The writing team focused on presenting Michael not only as a Last Guest, but also as an individual struggling with grief, survival, and responsibility.
The film also expanded the roles of several characters, including Matt, Daisy, Simon, and The Bacon General. Unlike the original movie, Reimagined placed significantly greater emphasis on long-term character relationships, especially the emotional brotherhood between Michael and Matt, whose relationship serves as one of the movie’s central narrative foundations from childhood through adulthood and eventually the war itself.
Several scenes were reportedly rewritten multiple times during production, particularly the ending, the orphanage sequence, and portions of the final battle. Internal remakes were made in order to strengthen pacing and character motivations. In the credits of the film, fanart from the community was showcased, which were all made during a brief art submission period posted on the TLGR Discord server.
Casting
One of the largest ideas during development was getting voice actors associated with the original The Last Guest to voice in Reimagined while also introducing new performers for expanded characters.
Chazz Ravenelle reprised his role as Guest1337 from the original 2017 movie while also voicing Matt, as he did in the last movie as well. Ravenelle’s return was considered one of the production’s most significant casting milestones due to the strong association between his performances and the original film.
Newly recruited voice actors in Reimagined included:
- Genny Sherard as Daisy
- BlizzardTitanVA as The General
- AerelisVA as Molly
- JunebugVO as Sergeant Jacobs
- SpudVR as Simon
- Calethousand as Zane
- BentlSR as Ezekiel
- Bundun as Builderman
- Anastasia Virolly as Abby
- Seafurball as Michael’s mother
- Alium as Charlotte
- Genosins12 as Penya
- GRXPE.0 as Mrs. Brown
- Dusk05 as the Principal
Additional voice actors and background voice actors included:
- KreekCraft
- BlizzardTitan
- Steak
- ShrekConfirm243
- Schbaz
- Mgcolero
- MagicalChess
- Lewsi_
- Magikman
- Thatoneduck
- Que_Rico
- Timfoolery
- ShanePlays
- Jiyu
- Puss
In total, over 30 voice actors and contributors participated in the movie’s production.
Animating and Project Designing
Production on The Last Guest: Reimagined began in mid-2024 in multiple Roblox filming environments developed by the animators and project artists. Several locations from the original The Last Guest were recreated with higher environmental detail, lighting systems, texture quality, particle effects, and rendering of the characters. Additional original environments, including military barracks, deserts, urban streets, orphanage interiors, and battlefield regions were also designed specifically for the project.
The project involved one of the largest collaborative production teams done for a Roblox film at the time, consisting of animators, builders, visual effects artists, cinematic designers, composers, editors, lighting artists, and video editors operating under a centralized production structure primarily led by ConvexHD and XerocHD, up to 20 people in the team.
Development was described by multiple production members as taking alot of time due to community expectations surrounding the franchise after nearly nine years without a sequel. Several major battle sequences went under complete reanimation after internal screenings revealed pacing, choreography, and performance concerns. In late 2024, a server-related asset failure temporarily corrupted sections of environmental production data, requiring portions of the movie to be rebuilt. The film’s ending also underwent multiple takes before it was finalized.
Production concluded in April 2026 following nearly two years of active development.
Budget
The Last Guest: Reimagined is a fully self-financed project led by its two directors, who have funded the production through their personal investments. According to ConvexHD, contributors who made significant investments in the project have been compensated with real money. However, it has been reported that some members of the production team volunteered their services without compensation.
As of May 2026, The Last Guest: Reimagined is the most expensive Roblox film production to date, with over 50 permanent crew members, including animators, voice actors, and artists, and more than 70 contributors in total, comprising former team members and freelance workers.
The estimated production budget for the film's first act, titled The Origin, is approximately £2,300 GBP (around $3,100 USD or €2,660 EUR), as disclosed by the directors. However, specific compensation amounts for individual contributors have not been made public.
Revenue from the film's first trailer reached approximately £900, which was reinvested into the project's production. In contrast, monetization for the second trailer faced challenges due to a copyright claim, which hindered revenue generation through Google AdSense.
Regarding the issue of unpaid work, ConvexHD noted, "I don't know. Nearly everyone who's done significant work for this project has gotten paid or will get paid." Production information indicates that all animation contributors received compensation, as well as most leading voice actors. Meanwhile, some supporting voice actors and smaller contributors participated voluntarily without payment.
Music
The compositions for The Last Guest: Reimagined was composed through a collaborative effort involving multiple independent artists and music producers within the Roblox online music community. Unlike the original The Last Guest (2017), which used a limited soundtrack, Reimagined features an expanded cinematic score using battle themes, compositions, war tracks, suspense sequences, and musical motifs.
The film’s soundtrack was composed and produced by:
- Jiyu
- Szive
- DP Music
- EmilyIsAliv3
- Moving_Anomaly
- Edgar Heath
- Catural
In addition to original compositions created for the film, portions of the soundtrack also used licensed cinematic music from Really Slow Motion and Music for Video Library. These licensed tracks were primarily used during large-scale battle scenes, emotional sequences, trailers, and cinematics in the movie.
Several original compositions were produced exclusively for Reimagined, including character themes associated with Guest, Matt, Daisy, and the Bacon Liberation Front conflict. The production team reportedly worked closely with composers throughout development to synchronize emotional beats, military actions, and major story moments with the soundtrack.
According to members of the production team, music played a major role in shaping the emotional tone of the movie, particularly during scenes involving Guest’s childhood, the orphanage attack, the desert war sequences, Matt’s critical injury, and the film’s ending delivered through Charlotte reading Michael’s letter. The official soundtrack and unreleased compositions began gaining popularity following the movie’s release on YouTube. The music in the soundtrack for the war scene was made by Morch Kovalski. During the wedding dance scene, a piano cover of "Falling Down" from Undertale was used.
Songs and musics used in the movie include:
- Fantasy, also known by “Come With Me” by Edgar Heath (The major and only song with lyrics, it is 3 min and 44 secs, used in the 10 year timeskip scene, entirety of song is used and is originally made for Reimagined, chorus hook and core lyric is Come with me | I’ll show you the way my heart sings the melody)
- SFX sound effects and music by Jiyu made for Reimagined
- Soundtracks by Szive made for Reimagined
- Soundtracks by SulfurEmily made for Reimagined
- Soundtracks by Shadow Anomaly
- Soundtracks by Catural
- Black Mesa - We've Got Hostiles (remix) by Morch Kovalski
- Falling Down (piano cover) from Undertale

ConvexHD began extensive marketing in late 2025, promoting Reimagined on the YouTube channel, with the first teaser released on August 31, 2025, via the ConvexHD YouTube channel, announcing the movie's official title. Leaks were posted on the TLGR Discord server every now and then. The teaser marked the Last Guest's first official visual content release in nearly nine years. In its first 24 hours, it got 100,000 views. In January 2026, the final trailer was released and quickly gained traction, surpassing 1 million views within a week. An official full length trailer was released on the YouTube channel on December 12, 2025. After the teaser, leaks of the movie were posted by ConvexHD in the Discord server every month. The trailer was widely discussed across Roblox, social media platforms, and fan communities.

Critical response
Reimagined has garnered favorable reviews on the movie aggregator website IMDb where the movie is officially listed, with an average rating of 8.5/10, and similar positive responses on various platforms like Reddit. The film has been assigned a TV-MA certificate, distinguishing it from the original The Last Guest, which held a PG-13 rating, due to its darker and more mature themes[15]. Critics have praised the reimagining for its enhanced animation quality, improved cinematography, and more profound storytelling. Reviews on Reddit say that the film effectively addresses narrative gaps present in the 2017 version, especially concerning the backstory of characters like Molly and Matt. Additionally, fans on the r/roblox subreddit have praised the transition away from what it described as the "hilariously bad" R15 animations of the original to a more polished, cinematic visual effects movie.
While the original film primarily targeted a younger audience, the reimagined version effectively explores heavier themes, such as the impacts of war and discrimination, making it more suitable for older youth. Some fans have expressed concern that the high-budget remake might lose the unique charm of the original, which was characterized by its "awkward dialogue" and animation style.
Although traditional film critics do not review Roblox cinematic productions, community tracking websites like Idea Wiki report high ratings, including an 82% positive score on PostTrak and a Metacritic equivalent of 70/100, with generally favorable reviews.
On YouTube, creators like KreekCraft[16] who voiced in the movie and others like Ninjagaming, Hoodydude[17], famous YouTube creators Steak[18], Thinknoodles[19] and Bundun, who also voiced, have posted emotional reaction videos and live streams watching The Last Guest: Reimagined, with some creators crying at the end of the film. Reviewers on YouTube say that the remake fixes the logic errors of the original and "adds much-needed weight making the combat feel like it actually hurts." On TikTok, fans say how the new professional-grade voice-overs change the characters' impact with a voice acting comparison between the two movies. Reviewers also praise Simon's narrative arc with Zane in the war.
However, some fans of the original film have raised criticism regarding minor gaps in the storyline that remained unaddressed in the remake. For instance, questions surrounding the lack of police protection for Guest's family amidst underlying political and military tensions with the Bacons have been noted.[20] Reviewers on Reddit also say on how the movie handled Jez who appeared at the end of the movie. In the original series, viewers believed Guest1337 died in the explosion. The reimagined version structures it differently, which some reviewers argue gives the tension room and heartbreak of that scene.[21][22]

Memes
One of the most recurring memes in the movie since The Last Guest: Reimagined's release is when Molly calls Matt a "good boy" in the military war after bandaging his leg up while injured. In the scene of passing the bandages to Molly, she playfully headpats him and calls him a good boy. Matt says to not call him that with a "Hmph!". Matt's grumpy reaction and embarrassed demeanor led viewers to compare the scene to a "tsundere" character archetypes commonly seen in anime media; that viewers nickname him in that specific scene as comparing him to Natsuki from Doki-Doki Literature Club. It had went viral across the TLGR Discord server and TikTok.
Another meme is when Guest and Simon are bickering each other before military training, Simon calls out an insult while Guest is walking away to Matt with the line, "Yeah, run back to your boyfriend!", referencing the ship between Michael and Matt, nicknamed Matt1337 indirectly.
Simon and Zane relationship reception
One of the most discussed emotional scenes in The Last Guest: Reimagined following its release involved the confrontation between Simon and Zane during the desert war battle near the end of the film. In the scene, Simon is critically injured and tells Guest to run as Zane, now fighting for the Bacon Soldiers, approaches him through the smoke and recognizes his former childhood best friend, with Simon saying “Long time no see..”. The scene later turns into a memory sequence after the death of the two during elementary school, ending with Simon asking, “Hey. We’re best friends, right?”, to which Zane tearfully responds, “Right..”.
Hey. We’re best friends, right? Right..
The scene received widespread praise across YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, and the TLGR Discord server for its emotional writing, symbolism, and tragic atmosphere. Many viewers interpreted the moment as representing the destruction of childhood friendships through war and division. Particular praise was directed toward the visual decision to obscure Simon’s face in Zane’s memory during the confrontation, which many fans interpreted as symbolizing the two having grown apart for so long that they could barely recognize each other anymore. Viewers see this specific decision as part of the animation meme trend of “I’m slowly forgetting your face.”
After it’s release, a large portion of the community began referring to the relationship dynamic between Simon and Zane by the ship name “Sizane”. The pairing became popular on TikTok and Discord, where viewers described the two as a “doomed ship” or “doomed yaoi”, referring to tragic relationships in which two characters are emotionally connected but separated by conflict and unavoidable circumstances. Many fan edits focused on the transition between the battlefield and the elementary school memory scene, with users describing it as one of the saddest scenes in the movie.
Sequel
A sequel and Part 2 for Reimagined, titled The Last Guest: Reimagined – The Prodigy, is expected to be announced in the coming months. No release date has been announced.
Following the release of The Last Guest: Reimagined – The Origin, ConvexHD addressed the future of the project in a public post on YouTube following the film's premiere. According to ConvexHD, active development on The Prodigy will likely not begin immediately, as the production team intended to take a break following nearly two years of development on the first act.
Convex stated that the team was "exhausted" after the extensive work put into the movie and planned to take time to mentally recharge before beginning work on the second act. In the meantime, the team announced plans to focus on post-release material, including dubbed versions of the movie in multiple languages, one in Spanish, a behind-the-scenes feature, and the possible release of bloopers.
The statement suggested that although future installments remain planned, development on Act 2 would begin at a later date while the production team shifted attention toward additional content surrounding the first film.[23]
