NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS ALL THE DIGITMON ADVENTURE CRAP (except for the 2020 reboot because it is already a page here and that 1999 short film because I forgot)
Not to be confused with its bizarre 2020 reboot
a promotional poster made by Ro-Saban Entertainment (Notice that the name "Digitmon" is replaced by "Digimon", that's because they made a spelling error when making this specific poster.)
Digitmon Adventure (Also Known as Digitmon Adventure 01 or Digitmon: Digital Monsters (Season #1) in Robloxia) (Neo-Japanese: デジモンアドベンチャー, Dejimon'adobenchā) is the first (not really) part of the Digitmon series. the series was released on March 7th, 1999 in Neo-Japan (the channel in question that it aired was on Fuji TV) and on August of 1999 in Robloxia.
This series is often compared to Brick Bronze due to having the concept of catching monsters (which is a lie because the Digitegg exists) in them, but it is actually based off a old Ro-Bandai Tamagotchi spin-off from 1997 that was made for boys codenamed "Digital-Monsters".
In Neo-Japan, the theme for the series is "Butter~fly" by Koji Wada and it's ending theme is "I Wish" by Ai Maeda, while in Robloxia, the series' theme is a earlier version of the "Digirap" and the end theme is a instrumental version of the same song.
Plot
Basically, this series follows eight random children (Taichi "Tai" Kamiya, Sora Takenouchi, Matt Ishida, Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi, Mimi Tachikawa, Takeru "T.K" Takaishi, Joe "Jo" Kido and Hikari "Kari" Kamiya) as they get sent to a random place called the "digital world", in which there are digital monsters (which are basically "digital" Pokémon but worse).
Development
The series began production in 1998. After the 1999 short film, "Digitmon Adventure" was finished by a group of Roei Animation employees, and it had been produced, the executives had liked it so much that they decided to turn the short film into a entire series because of how interesting it was.
Most of the characters' names were chosen from a wordlist that had similar names to the word "Luck". Originally, the original plot for the series was meant to be Jijimon meeting a 5th grader who's name was Yusuke, and it would have been about a evil organization known as Croana, the latter of which wanted to destroy the digital world, it is possible that this plot might have been scrapped due to it's similarity to Brick Bronze Pokemon and instead the series was turned into a child-friendly version of a average "Isekai" anime. (though, most Isekai anime have the main protagonist having a Harem while Digitmon Adventure does not because it is supposed to be a KIDS show)
Digitmon: The Movie
Digitmon: The Movie is an 2000 film produced by ROX. It is pretty much a combination of four short films, "Digimon Adventure (1999)", "Digitmon Adventure: OUR WAR GAME!!!", and the 2-part short films, "Digitmon Adventure 02: Digitmon Hurricane Landing!!" and "Digitmon Adventure 02: Transcendent Evolution!! The Golden Digitmentals!". It is around 1 hour and 30 minutes long and was aired on the (now defunct) ROX Kids.
This film was released on VHS sometime in 2001 and was later released on DVD in 2023. The film was also dubbed in Ro-Philippines but in English. It is also where the "Tai sents a letter to Sora" and some other Digitmon meme come from. The movie itself is extremely random due to its art style change.
Digitmon Adventure 02
Digitmon Adventure 02 (Digitmon: Digital Monsters Season 2) is the second part of Digitmon Adventure 01. It aired from 2000 to 2001.
The series was announced an entire day after Digitmon Adventure 01 had basically ended. The series takes place three entire years after the original series. The series was announced weeks later Digitmon: The Movie had premiered in the USR.
It also introduces a bunch of new main characters, namely Yolei Inoue, Ken Ichijouj, Davis Motomiya, and Cody Hida. The only two characters from the original series that are main characters in this series are Hikari "Kari" Kamiya and Takeru "T.K" Takaishi. The series itself is not really important.
Digitmon Adventure Tri film series
During 2015-2018, there were a line of Digitmon Adventure films called "Digitmon Adventure Tri.", which were basically what would happen if the digidestined went to high school. It takes place in 2005. It is also the third part of the franchise.
It was first released in 2015, and eventually ended in 2018, this series is (somewhat) available to watch on Ro-Pluto TV.
Manga and Manhua
Digitmon Adventure was adapted into a four-volume manga. There was also a manhua (Luobese for manga) based of the series. Adventure 02 was also adapted into a two-volume manga.
CD Drama
The series and the other shows that came after it have CD dramas. One of these CD dramas relating to adventure was called "Digitmon Adventure: Character Song + Mini Drama 1", which was released on November 5th, 1999.
Digitmon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna
Digitmon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna is a film produced in 2020. It takes place in 2010, 5 years after Digitmon Adventure Tri. The characters are now in adulthood.
This film was released the same year as Digitmon Adventure (remake), but it came around a few months before the latter did. (also, for some damn reason (atleast in Robloxia) the film is rated G even though the film is explicitly meant to be seen by older Digitmon fans.)
Digitmon Adventure (2013 PSP game)
For Digitmon Adventure's 15th year anniversary (which in Robloxia would be 2014, but Neo-Japanese aging is different), Ro-Bandai Namco released a game called Digitmon Adventure, which is essentially the original series, but in 3D.
The game was released for the Ro-Playstation Portable, and it was only released in Neo-Japan. It has been nearly 12 years since this has been released. Despite being only released in Neo-Japan, there are several fan-made English versions of this game. An official English version is yet to be released.
Digitmon Adventure 02: The Beginning
Digitmon Adventure 02: The Beginning is a film released on October 5th, 2023. It is the second and last film to have the main characters as adults and also introduces, as adults, Yolei, Davis, Ken and Cody.
It is also the end of the original Digitmon Adventure story, and it takes place in 2012.
Merchandise
The series' merchandise are either books, backpacks, action figures, calendars, plushies, two boardgames that are essentially a reskin of Monopoly, notebooks and other pieces of merchandise. Most of the action figures are produced by Ro-Bandai.
The series also (apparently) has a book that is disguised as a "Character Guide". The series also used to have an annual magazine that had been a thing since 2001 until its discontinuation in 2006.
Characters
DISCLAIMER: this part is only for the original Digitmon Adventure series, also some of this part is complete satire, this only contains the english cast.
this is what they look like.
Taichi "Tai" Kamiya - a random boy who (in the original series) wore his goggles 24/7. His Digitmon partner is Agumon, he is voiced by Joshua Seth. (He is the leader, which is why he is first.)
Koshiro "Izzy" Izumi - a boy who basically is a Roternet geek. His Digitmon partner is Tentomon and he is voiced by Mona Marshall.
Sora Takenouchi - a boyish girl who is often shipped with Taichi but she ended up with Matt Ishida instead. Her Digitmon partner is Biyomon. She is voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessy.
Matt Ishida - The older brother of T.K Takaishi. His Digitmon partner is Gabumon. He is voiced by Michael Reisz.
Mimi Tachikawa - She is basically the opposite of Sora Takenouchi. She wears a pink hat on her head that makes her look like a rejected Magical Doremi character (not even important). Her Digitmon partner is Palmon. She is voiced by the now-deceased voice actress, Philece Sampler.
Joe Kido - a preteen who probably loves studying so much that he might be considered a nerd, especially since he wears glasses. His Digitmon partner is Gomamon. He is voiced by Michael Lindsay.
T.K Takaishi - Matt Ishida's younger brother. He is around 8-9 years old. His Digitmon partner is Patamon. He is voiced by Wendee Lee.
Hikari "Kari" Kamiya - Tai Kamiya's younger sister. Her Digitmon partner is Gatomon. Kari is also the same age range as T.K. She is voiced by Lara Jill Miller.
