History
Diamond Lifts, Incorporated was founded in 1909 by a group of Benton shop owners who wanted to design a faster, quieter lift. They came up with their first model, C-1. This elevator was constructed and assembled inside of the 30 foot test tower located at the company’s former headquarters. Instead of using a counterbalance like most elevators did, they decided to make it a hydraulic elevator which also used a rope at the top hoisted by a electric motor. They made improvements and eventually, they sold their first production elevator, the C-2 to a department store in Coxly in 1912. In 1920,Transport for Stepford ordered 4 C-3 elevators for the Stepford Central station. In 1934, the C-28 model elevator made its debut, which used two pulleys, one at the top and one at the bottom and the first counterbalance elevator that Diamond had made since the C-21 in 1928. In 1957, it opened its first North American factory, located in a unincorporated area that is now Parkview, Blorida. The Parkview factory (then called the South Blorida Plant) closed down in 2014, but the natural gas power plant that provided power to the factory still stands, along with the office and the fence.
