Competition for a Billion Robux is a live-action reality competition show hosted co-hosted by Builderman with Eric Wallstock and produced by Bigtime Productions for the programming network, Avast Television. The show is based around 64 contestants split into eight teams of eight competing for a billion robux in wacky and intense challenges chosen by the show's viewers with the risk of getting eliminated from the show.

The show first aired on January 7, 2006 before running for 72 more episodes with a finale airing in May 26th of 2007. It received critical acclaim from critics and the show's audience for its characters, challenges, and character development. Several contestants from 20th place to 1st place had special guest appearances on the Roblox Late Night Show after the show's finale premiered. A fan-made animated sequel called Animated Competition was released on BloxTube in 2011 after high demand to start a new season from the show's fanbase started to spread quickly. The show's winner decided to start a crypto currency named RoNetBux after deciding to "change the world" during a meeting in a coffee shop in Bloxburg City.

Setting

The competition takes place in an archipelago owned by Builderman. In the first island, there are 16 cabins housing 4 beds each for the contestants, the island also includes a mess hall and production camp (a place housing the production crew and their offices). The second island spans 30 kilometers and is where the challenges take place. It also has a fair amount of animals in there. The third island has an area for the teams who are put up for elimination in the current episode. Additionally, there is a dock and landing pad for eliminated contestants to return to the urban life.

Production

Conception

Around February of 2002, a year after the show's creators met, a not-so-young Eric Wallstock watches an episode of favorite gameshow. During the middle of the episode, he thinks of an idea to create a gameshow of his own. Builderman soon joins in and the two start planning out a concept. A month later, the concept gets a finished version; "Sixty four Robloxians compete in varying challenges with the chance of winning a billion robux or getting eliminated from the game".

Over the course of 6 months, the duo hired over 100 crew members and earned a budget of R$500,000 from both Builderman and Shedletsky. The show's setting was chosen on a poll created by some of the staff, and challenges excluding the first were made to be chosen by it's viewers. Meanwhile, half of the crew were struggling with the show as Eric ordered them to find a way to conduct footage through secret. They eventually settled on mini-drones, a recently released product developed by NewTech.
