Ash Ketchup x Ketchup (also referred to as Ketchupshipping) is a stupid ship between Ash Ketchup and a bottle of ketchup. This ship is pretty much cursed because of the fact that it ships Ash Ketchup with a inanimate object.
The meme's origins are unknown.
The Made-Up Lore (according to some BloxTube users):
Basically, one day during the XY era of Brick Bronze Pokemon, Ash came across a ketchup bottle and for some reason, he fell in love with it and began treating the ketchup bottle as his girlfriend (which concerned Serena, Clemont and Bonnie), before Ash realized it was a inanimate object.
Is it canon to Brick Bronze Pokemon lore??
Considering that Bloxtendo, through its infamous lawyers who were often portrayed as ninjas, decided to take down some of the stuff related to it, it is possible that this ship is canon, even if it has not been confirmed. The takedown also made a meme that the Roternet has a specific rule (Rule 92) which states that if something fan-made related to anything Bloxtendo-related is taken down by Bloxtendo, it is automatically canon.
How it was spread
Weird fan fiction was made featuring this ship, causing the fan fiction to spread. Soon, fan-made animations were made depicting it to the point where a BloxTube video about this ship was made in which Ash takes a ketchup bottle on a date (which is very weird).
One day in early 2019, Bloxtendo CEO Nagisa Furukawa found one of the memes while she was looking for random memes and she found a picture of Ash Ketchup loving a ketchup bottle. She became traumatized by the image because it looked cursed and it looked strange. As a result, she sued everyone who made fan fiction of it for R$200,000. This made Robloxians doing all of this stuff and even monetizing it poor.
As of 2025, the meme still exists in obscurity as the Brick Bronze Pokemon fanbase moved on from the XY era.
Trivia
- After Nagisa Furukawa took down most of the stuff relating to this ship she deemed "NSFW" (Not safe for work), all of the stuff associated with this ship became infamous (mainly due to the lawsuit).
- This ship was possibly made to mock another ship at that time, which was known as Ash x Serena.
