A Very Hungry Pikachu is a video game created by Team Friction that was released in October 20, 2016, where the players had to survive and ultimately defeat a giant humanoid Pikachu named Pika as it destroyed a small city and tried to eat the players. Coins spawned around the map, which could be collected by players to purchase more powerful weapons.

In July 2020, Bloxtendo sued Team Friction for copyright, and as a result, the game was pulled from stores. A non-copyrighted version called Very Hungry Aliens was released on 29th September 2020. On July 28th, 2023, the Team Friction accidentally released a slightly modified version of the game, before being pulled from stores on August 16, 2023.

Gameplay

The game took place entirely in a small city, with several landmarks such as an office, a mall, and a construction site. The objective of the game was to defeat Pika, a giant humanoid Pikachu who wandered the map chasing nearby players. Pika destroyed any blocks it came into contact with, and grabbed and devoured any players it caught.

Players initially started empty-handed, but could buy gear by spending money gained by collecting coins scattered throughout the city. These included Coils, that allowed the player to move faster and jump higher, as well as weapons to fight Pika with.

After Pika's health was dropped to 20% of its starting value, Pika's outer skin broke off to reveal its true form; a robot named Mechanichu. In this state it moved faster, and regularly fired lasers from its eyes at players. When its health is drained completely, Pika exploded, respawning at the center of the map after a few seconds with increased health.

  • The game contained three references to Shrek: Shrek could be found sleeping inside the Meme House, a Shrek plush could be found on the crane at the playground that caught fire and disappeared if touched by Pika, and a toy of Donkey could be found inside the store.
  • In "RO-BOXING" there is a glove called "Very Hungry Pikachu!" with the description "Check out the game 'Very Hungry Pikachu' on stores, by Dominical to see this pikachu in action!"
  • The theme for A Very Hungry Pikachu was posted on BloxyCloud by Dominical.

Fourth Wall Breaking Trivia

This game got trending on Explore Robloxiapedia on November 13, 2025 for purely unknown reasons, placing squarely on #8. Some speculate that it could be possible that the game could be back from copyright infringement and rendered playable again by Dominical, or a sequel to the original game could be on the works, or both, or it was orchestrated by Robloxiapedia enemies or bots to get undue attention to this article. ChikoritaTheRobloxian theorizes that it could have been a second anniversary on when he made the edit to this page. This occurred even when there are no more news on the game itself. It is mostly likely as implied by the comment section that users are taking time to pay respect to games in Roblox that could not be played on the platform for various reasons.
