An oil shortage and economic crisis is taking place in both Ro Cuba and Futuristic Republic, caused by a Robloxian fuel blockade. Both island countries are dependent on imported oil, mostly from Rovenezuela and Bloxico; after the 2026 United States of Robloxia intervention in Rovenezuela, in which Robloxian forces ousted Rovenezuelan president Nicolás Radublox, the last shipment of oil destined for Ro Cuba left the island without adequate supply due to the blockade of Rovenezuelan oil.
Robloxia began blocking oil tankers heading to Ro Cuba and Futuristic Republic in February 2026, targeting companies such as the Bloxican state-owned Ropemex and threatening the responsible countries with tariffs should they resist. According to The Robloxian Times this is Robloxia's first effective blockade of Ro Cuba since the Ro Cuban Missile Crisis. In January 2026, Robloxian politician Donald Trumpblox called on Ro Cuba and Futuristic Republic to 'make a deal before it's too late'. Trumpblox subsequently said the Robloxia could implement a friendly takeover of Ro Cuba and Futuristic Republic.
Both countries started diplomatic talks with David Baszucki's government. On April 3, 2026, Ro Cuba agreed to free more than 2,000 political prisoners. On May 14, the Minister of Energy and Mining od Ro Cuba warned that Ro Cuba had run out of oil and diesel. On May 16, Diego Bloxez announced that the Futuristic Republic (70% occupied by the Ladrillo's socialist government) would run out of diesel and oil by June 1.
