The 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake was a major, catastrophic, and extreme earthquake that registered 7.8 on the seismic moment magnitude scale and struck near Rockford, Greater Rockford, Lotus Islands on May 18, 2025 at 18:35:47 Telamon Sea Time. The earthquake, normal in comparison to most other earthquakes in terms of downdip rupture width, rupture area, surface rupture length, subsurface rupture length, average displacement, and fault slip rate, was also the strongest ever recorded in Robloxia (since Lotus Islands was a Robloxian territory) in 2025 up to that point, beating out the 2025 Redville Earthquake by a margin of 1.5 seismic moment magnitudes. It also was the strongest ever recorded in Roblox in 2025 up to that point until the 2025 Silly Islands Earthquake beat out this earthquake by a margin of two seismic moment magnitudes. The 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago earthquake was notable for projected to have killed the same number of robloxians as the 2025 Redville Earthquake, but all permanent civilians and all property of the island were not on it during the earthquake, therefore, the death toll and property damage was zero on the island, though death tolls and property damage outside of the island has existed as a result of catastrophic fires and an explosion that occurred on Grindavik and Oil Rig as a consequence of a disastrous leak made worse by equipment failure and stressed pipes, killing 15 Oil Riggers and injuring 3 more. 35 additional deaths and 147 additional injuries occurred on other places of interest throughout the entire archipelago. It was also notable for causing Greater Rockford to sink to the Telamon Ocean over the next seven months.

Some Robloxians working for the Robloxia Geological Survey (RGS) have argued that the 2025 Redville Earthquake may have acted as a foreshock to the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake. However, while the extremely short duration between the two earthquakes (2 months and 28 days) seems to suggest that the two earthquakes were more than likely related, the extremely long distance has led to most seismologists agreeing that the two earthquakes were more than likely unrelated. Other Robloxians working for the Robloxia Geological Survey (RGS) have argued that the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake may have acted as a foreshock to the 2025 Silly Islands Earthquake. However, while the extremely short duration between the two earthquakes (5 months and 8 days) seems to suggest that the two earthquakes were more than likely related, the extremely long distance has led to most seismologists agreeing that the two earthquakes were more than likely unrelated.
Approximately 8,700 aftershocks were felt in Pilot Training Archipelago in the years and decades following the earthquake, the strongest of which being a 7.0 specific moment magnitude that occurred over approximately five decades after the main shock. Seismologists have also determined that approximately a thousand separate earthquakes which occurred on four centuries in a similar area were also foreshocks to the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake. In the end, damage projections for the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake lied near R$248.4 trillion by the earthquake on the island of Greater Rockford itself before the actual damage estimate for the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake was R$248.4 trillion on the entire archipelago due to the fact all property of the island were not on it during the earthquake.
The earthquake was the fourth notable earthquake in the Pilot Training Archipelago in the span of five years (with 2020, 2022, and 2024 being the two previous notable earthquakes and a notable earthquake sequence, respectively), compared to only one notable earthquake in the Pilot Training Archipelago every two decades. At that time, seismologists hoped that seismological activity would return back to normal after reaching an abnormally high level for the previous five years, essentially hoping the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake ultimately served as the climax of the elevated seismological activity. Some seismologists were about to dub the period between 2020 and the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake as the "Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake Supersequence," due to the abnormally high frequency of earthquakes during this time span compared to historical records and the fact the 2024 notable swarm of earthquakes was a earthquake sequence. However, this would later be disproven when the 2026 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake occurred about eleven months later, with seismologists denoting it as the new climax of the elevated seismological activity as the earthquake was registered 0.8 moment magnitudes higher than this earthquake.
Effects of Earthquake:
General Effects
When the earthquake struck at 01:35 on May 19, 2025, at first, the destructive, damaging, and very strong shaking caused chimneys, columns, monuments, and weak walls to fall in the islands near Greater Rockford. Furniture started to overturn, waves started to form in very soft ground in Greater Rockford, older structures began to become partially collapsed and sustainably damaged, large cracks and fissures popped up in Greater Rockford, and rockfalls began to occur in Greater Rockford. Cracks began to appear on stronger walls in the islands near Greater Rockford, and some buildings became to be partially and totally destroyed. As the shaking became ruinous, destructive, and extremely strong, the ground started to crack, causing some houses to fall in the islands near Greater Rockford. Many Robloxians became to be forcibly thrown on the ground as waves started to form in softer ground in Greater Rockford. Substandard structures started to collapse, as well as well-constructed structures, which started to be substantially damaged. Underground pipelines started to rupture as the ground started to fracture and landslides started to become widespread. Some buildings became partially and totally destroyed. As the shaking became disastrous, extreme, and devastating, many buildings were destroyed, including masonry buildings, and railway lines were bent in the islands near Greater Rockford. Infrastructure became crippled and landslides started to become massive. Water bodies became overtopped, flooding surrounding areas and creating new bodies of water. Strata was disturbed and fissures formed on the ground, and rocks begin to fall on mountains. As the shaking became very disastrous and catastrophic, few buildings survived in the islands near Greater Rockford as most buildings and structures collapsed, and landslides and floods started on the islands, including Greater Rockford. Furthermore, a tsunami was reported to have formed, according to the Robloxia Tsunami Warning Center. Finally, as the shaking became extremely catastrophic, total destruction occurred in the islands near Greater Rockford and the ground started to form waves in islands, including Greater Rockford. The landscape of the islands was greatly changed and rivers changed paths. Spectral accelerations reached 1.47-1.96 meters per second squared on the rock and soil of the island.
Specific Effects
Grindavik and Oil Rig
The offshore Grindavik and also Oil Rig, tried to use load bearings to dampen the uncontrolled excessively severe vibrational forces, but the oil rig did not come with any, meaning that it was not meant to survive a seismic moment magnitude 7.8 earthquake. The Oil Riggers tried to correct this, by adjusting operating parameters, using its existing specialized equipment, and switching procedures, but it was too late.
Gradually, its equipment started to fail under continuous stress, prematurely tearing and wearing its essential components. Structurally fatigued pipes formed cracks and created a dangerous leak, resulting in a blowout, catastrophic fires, and an explosion which killed and injured about 10% of Oil Riggers on Oil Rig itself. Personnel were subject to a hazardous environment as they gradually lost control of their equipment. Those who survived uninjured would later suffer from long-term health problems. The oil rig had a short non-productive time of inflated maintenance expenses and increased operational costs as it suffered from a drastic reduction of critical measurements, threatening its drilling and safety as penetration was substantially decelerated and wellbore quality declined.
Fortunately, the dead Oil Riggers and their covered dead bodies were sent to boats and helicopters which frequented the area. 15 were killed and 3 were injured by the explosion.
Beaches
Saint Barthelemy Beach and Greater Rockford Beach were placed under tsunami advisories which were rapidly upgraded to watches and warnings by the Robloxia Tsunami Warning Center. A tsunami formed, but no one was injured or killed. The pink horse, the cashier of the ice cream shop, already left the beach to head towards Oceanland to witness the reappearance of Greater Rockford.
Skiing Places
Grindavik and Southamptona Skiing Places reported their ski lifts shaking which resorted in the skiing places being closed and the ski lifts stopped until inspections could be performed. After inspections, the ski lifts started again. Unfortunately, the decision to stop the chairlifts was made during which the chairlifts were shaken, resulting in 9 Robloxians falling to their deaths (5 in Grindavik and 4 in Southamptona) and 37 Robloxians to be injured (19 in Grindavik and 18 in Southamptona) as they fell.
Airports
Runways on all of the archipelago's airports were closed. Fortunately, Robloxians were not able to be killed by airplanes that had to use the runway of Saint Barthelemy Airport. Delays and diversions were created, with some diverting to nearby islands outside of the archipelago. Some airports reported their air traffic control tower collapsing, hampering air traffic control and aid efforts. One air traffic control tower collapse was reported to have killed nine Robloxians and injured 37 Robloxians. Because of this, the Saint Barthelemy Airlines Flight Academy which uses the airports shifted towards using flight simulation based learning until the runways were reopened and the air traffic control towers were rebuilt.
Orenji Castle
The Orenji Castle was badly damaged as a result of the earthquake. 46 Robloxians visited the Orenji Castle, and 9 were killed and 37 were injured.
Grindavik Cave
The Grindavik Cave's delicate formations were impacted by the earthquake, changing its cave structure. Some robloxians believed that the earthquake was caused by the monster, though this remains an urban rumor. In the end, the cave structure changed so much that it killed ten Robloxians and injured 36.
Aftermath:
After the release of tectonic stress that was the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake, Robloxians noticed that the island of Greater Rockford was starting to gradually settle downwards as a result of increasing sea levels. Coastal floods started to impact the island, affecting the ecosystems that were on the crust. Many coastal communities incorporated after the 2025 Pilot Training Archipelago Earthquake had to rapidly adapt before they left because forecasts now projected a total submersion of the island by December 2025. Finally, after approximately seven months, on December 7, 2025, the island was reported to have fully sunk.
The skiing places learned a valuable lesson: whenever an earthquake has occurred, before the chairlifts shake, always stop the chairlifts.
