The Black Superman is a black mask superhero film based on Doctor Manhattan.

History

The Black Superman was released during the black mask film phenomenon in the 1970s and 1980s. The film was an on-the-nose spoof of Doctor Manhattan.^[1]

Trivia

• The Black Superman has a similar title of the real life blaxploitation film from 1977 titled Abar, the First Black Superman.
• The Black Superman is also a reference to Cal Abar's reveal as Doctor Manhattan in the episode "An Almost Religious Awe".
