John Cale

John Davies Cale is a Welsh musician, composer, singer, songwriter and record producer.

The lyrics of his song "Sanities" is the epigraph of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' comic book limited series Watchmen, appearing in the final panel of the comic's twelfth issue, "A Stronger Loving World".

  • The epigraph used in the final panel of Watchmen ("It would be a stronger world, a stronger loving world, to die in") is actually a shortened and slightly misquoted version of the actual lyrics from Cale's song "Sanities" ("All so that it would be a stronger world/A strong though loving world/To die in.").
