Frank Burrows was a circus performer and Klansman.

Biography

Frank Burrows was associated with the Sakcson and Shanley Circus's "Big Top Hello Mobile" troupe. In 1933, while touring with the troupe, Burrows formed a sexual relationship with strongman Rolf Müller. Burrows spent several hours alone with Müller in a backstage area one night, an encounter that left Müller visibly shaken and later expressing feelings of shame.

Later that summer, both Burrows and Müller became members of the Ku Klux Klan. While the circus was in Atlanta, Georgia, Burrows, Müller, and three other Klan affiliates were implicated in the murder of Samuel and Elois Horton, a Black couple who had attended the circus. Despite public outcry and testimonial evidence suggesting their involvement, all five men were acquitted on October 3, 1933.[1]
