- Given that Watchmen writer, Alan Moore admitted to basing some elements of the Comedian on Marvel Comics' Nick Fury (as well as the "commandos" name), it can be discerned that the Blazin' Commandos are meant to be a pastiche of the Howling Commandos[1].
