The Snap Mushroom (ポキポキキノコ Pokipokikinoko) is a fungi belonging to the same basidiomycota phyla as Matsutake Mushrooms. As its name indicates, its hard and makes a snapping sound when eaten raw.
Description
Although boiling softens the mushroom's texture considerably, almost everyone prefers the crunch it has when it's raw. Served raw and sprinkled with salt and pepper, "Snap Mushrooms on a stick" is a regular item on the snack menu at bars.
