The Onion Banana (オニオンバナナ) is a small breed of banana the size of an onion that grows in layers and can cause crying, much like an onion as well. However, unlike an onion, the Onion Banana has a condensed sweetness.

Preparation

The Onion Banana contains many tiny cells which hold powerful enzymes that can irritate the eyes and cause a chef to cry continuously nonstop for 24 hours. However, these tiny enzymes will only be released if the Onion Banana is not cut in a systematic order, cutting them in such a manner avoids harming the tiny cells and thus preventing the enzymes from being released. The cuts must be made precisely in the middle of each individual little banana peel and then they must be cut into almost paper-thin slices.

History

Melk Stardust Arc

Komatsu used the Banana Onions, along with the Plumage Pig Dry-Cured Ham and a Don Acorn in making the Melk Special pizza for Melk the Second to prove to her the value of the new knife she made for him. It proved to be quite delicious with these toppings and the Onion Banana and Dry-Cured Ham together made an irresistible balance.
