Gourmet Wholesalers (卸売商 Oroshiuri-shō) are food vendors who primarily deal in trading and selling the ingredients caught by Gourmet Hunters. Many men and women of this profession tend to gather at the World Kitchen, the largest hub for food trade in the Human World.[1][2]
Description
Gourmet Wholesalers usually sell their goods for the market price, but may also bid their food items off to the highest bidder, with prices starting off at the general market price. Gourmet Wholesalers can also deliver large quantities of goods, ranging from luxurious restaurants to privately owned butcher shops. However the quality of the merchandise may vary depending on how much they pay.
There is a strong sense of camaraderie between Wholesalers and Hunters, as their acquiring and selling of goods for the best prices is seen as a mutually beneficial and equal partnership. Some Wholesalers and Hunters may even form a type of close partnership similar to combos where the Wholesaler can act as a private informant to Hunters on new ingredients and the best locations to find them, and may even help them to reach their destination but acting as a Hunter's personal transport. A good example of this type of partnership is seen in Tom and Toriko, with Tom usually acting as Toriko's main seller of goods when a hunt is not affiliated with the IGO.[3][4]
History
Four Beast Arc
During the attack by the Four Beast, many Gourmet Wholesalers worked together to deliver large shipments of Colored Rice and Medicinal Mochi ingredients to chefs and the individuals poisoned by the Green Rain.[5][6]
